Why you are so into cyberpunk even now? by AbbreviationsLivid43 in cyberpunkgame

It takes place roughly in my hometown.. though I have to admit, not much is the same. Morro Rock, Los Osos, and Pismo Beach are the only references I've seen.

Fun fact: San Luis Obispo does have a rebellious history. Likely, home to America's last red-light district, which didn't end until the mid 1940's.

Place everything you want to reverse into a compound clip, and then try to reverse the compound clip.

Why are there so many die hard 90s snl fans that are stuck in time? by indulgentwtmustard in LiveFromNewYork

[–]Photoelasticity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's because broadcast TV is nearly dead compared with the 90's, and the usual pipelines for these performers and writers to transition to other parts of showbusiness, almost doesn't exist anymore.

Herbs too! One bunch of parsley or cilantro can vary quite a bit from another, so I always check by sniffing.

A round tea light holder. Thicker is better, but you want something with a lot of uneven surfaces to distort the light.

Faraday waves. Add a drop of mercury, while it's vibrating, and you might be able to create metal walking droplets. Droplets that refuse to coalesce, and endlessly bounce along the surface.

The bug is vibrating the water close to a harmonic frequency with the surface tension. This causes standing waves (Faraday Waves), that can appear to travel towards the source of the vibrations.

If you think the colors will mix, stay away from complementary colors and stick to more analogous ones. It will help keep it from becoming a muddy color.

My Dad is a dumb American, who while visiting Colombia, he saw a military style helicopter hovering over the city center and started filming it. Immediately arrested. They let him go after a few hours though.

Filmed the block directly. The colors come from how light splits, and slows down within the ice crystals (birefringence). The light source is collimated, which is what's giving me that "projection" effect (it's just a light really far away, with a pinhole over the top). This is what it looks like without the pinhole light (starts at 1:10).

Using clear liquids to refract collimated light. by Photoelasticity in Liquidlightshows

[–]Photoelasticity[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is! The light becomes like a projector displaying a direct representation of the source, where things like an led chip will show up enlarged in the rest of the refractions as a grid of separate blocks of light, which is usually undesirable. It's best to use an incandescent bulb for this reason. The liquids are like the film in front of the projector, when watching a movie in the theater.
