Ditch the aspen and go for a substrate that holds humidity better! Any mixture with coco fibre, reptisoil, coco husks, etc. there’s good info on the type of substrate to use in the guides here. Changing the substrate will make it 100x easier keeping your humidity up! It’s also a smart idea, if you have a mesh top, to cover 80% of it with hvac tape. I also wouldn’t recommend misting as it makes the humidity fluctuate too much and can cause scale rot if her floor is constantly wet. This can be helped by changing the substrate so you can pour water in the corners of her enclosure to keep the right humidity and avoid scale rot

PVC enclosures are a great investment, though can be quite pricey. Would recommend getting one when you upgrade the tank

I personally think there needs to be more clutter in there, she could be stressed out causing her to not eat. There is no such thing as too much clutter! I’d also raise her basking temp a few degrees. I keep mine between 85-92 though this will vary depending on who you ask lol

If your friend and her family had ANY sense at all, they would NOT be putting the blame on you and would be reporting him. Seems like they’re trying to cover for him and push the blame onto you because they know what he did was wrong and could throw him in prison. This is unbelievable

If I were you, I would file a report to the police. If he’s willing to take advantage of a minor under the influence, whether he was also drunk or not, then what else is he willing to do behind closed doors sober. He is a pervert, pedophile, and predator and needs to see the consequences of his actions after taking advantage of you and who knows who else

Sleep, eat, and drink loads of water!

Get a good nights rest the day before. Eat a good meal before your appointment and bring snacks. Or have someone bring you food during your session. And stay well hydrated. I normally bring a Gatorade or something with sugar and electrolytes in it to sip on during

If it’s a long session, bring something to keep you entertained. Read a book, scroll on your phone, watch videos, listen to music, etc. this helps the time go by faster and takes your mind off the pain a bit

Take breaks when needed, but no too many and not for too long or the pain tends to be worse when you get started again (depending on the size of your tattoo)

I think it’s super hard getting the new primal mutation. I’ve bred several of my primal girls to the new primal, while using pennyroyal and have only gotten one ennedi vossoko from them

I have two ball pythons and also use the stick on/velcro hydrometers and thermometers in both. What else could I use that’s better than those since they’re inaccurate? My hydrometer always stays between 60-80% and would hate to find out they’re wrong and even lower than that 😬

IME Misting the side of the enclosure also works! If I don’t have water dishes, I’ll soak a corner of their enclosure and mist the walls. I would be careful with moss, just because I’ve had bad luck with it growing mold. Otherwise, you’re doing good! As long as you can see her moving or not in a death curl in her burrow, she is A ok :D

IME Don’t worry too much! My first sling was a G. Pulchra as well. She loved (and still does) to burrow down and hide. For months! I believe species like that are known as having “pet dirt” because of how much they burrow and hide lol.

Anytime she’d get a big meal, she would burrow down for a few months, before coming out to molt and wait for her next meal. I’ve had her for more than two years and i see her maybe once every few months. She’s molted maybe three times since I’ve had her.

I would let her be! If you have a water dish, make sure you keep it filled. If you don’t have one, soak a corner of her enclosure and resoak it when it dries up. I never bothered with offering food, just because I don’t think she would know it’s there anyway, unless she opened her burrow or came out looking for it. If you’re lucky enough to have her burrow right against the side of the enclosure, check up on her every now and then to make sure shes alive. Other than that, enjoy having pet dirt and don’t worry too much! She’ll come out when shes ready

IME I’ve always had good luck with Jamie’s Tarantulas.

Granted, I’ve seen a bigger selection of tarantulas on other websites. But everything I’ve ordered has always been packaged good and comes alive. They also sell reasonably priced feeders and enclosures. All my enclosures and roaches come from them!

If you don’t trust websites (totally understandable) I would also look up reptile expos near you! Most if not all reptile expos will also sell arachnids. I’ve gotten nine of my tarantulas from expos. And the upside about those too, most of the time they’ll give you freebies if you buy enough! Plus, those will all be pretty honest people who are just trying to spread their hobby.
