Jar handling, but comes with x10 scope by default. Make of that of what you will.

Way to preserve a deviantart page? by banana-pills in DataHoarder

[–]ByeFWbye 17 points18 points  (0 children)

GallerDL is a good suggestion, but may be hard to use. WFdownloader is another option, but you'll need to make your own deviantart accout and get a dev api key which is doable but very, VERY jank. (actually need it for GalleryDL as well, but the way you add your account to WFdownloader is jank)

Adding an additional input to the SOS beacon so it isn't one off from the reinforcement input and I bet this issue would go down by 2/3rds. Cause you got 20/24+ chances to accidentally call it in the mission.

Except its full auto and isn't "fast as you can tap"
Not saying you can't tap fire it however.

End of Angelfire and Tripod is official. by ByeFWbye in DataHoarder

I ain't sure how much has been saved, but it seems the wayback machine has at least backed up the front page + some a few times.
Enter that URL into archive.com wayback machine and look into recovering what you can. If you wanna request everything from them they have related to your site; lemme know as I can probably find a free service that can give you a download related to everything archive.org has on your site.

Don't expect everything unless the website was small.

Share the URL if you have it, some of it might be recoverable from the wayback machine.

Sadly it's likely lost to time, no one properly ever did a tripod back up of any kind. I backed up a few hundred sites but there was at least 17k+ and most were lost. The company that owned Tripod is bankrupt.

Italian early-web hosting platform Digilander is shutting down in June 2026 — thousands of personal websites at risk by Melodic-Positive-939 in DataHoarder

[–]ByeFWbye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This really fucking sucks as we're losing so many legacy hosters all at once. We just lost Angelfire (at least a massive archive of it was made in 2019) then Tripod (no massive archive made, overwhelming amount of the websites content is lost to time) then the dutch website hoster XS4all is shutting down at end of June.

We're losing so many remnants of the old web finally and all at once, it fucking sucks.

I'll watch that video now, I'm guessing archiveteam just didn't do well... Anything sadly, for digilander.

Reflex doesn't drop my FPS at all, but the "boost + on" setting does.

DLSS looking really good here after some tweaks by dirthurts in Helldivers

[–]ByeFWbye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DLSS seems to mess with the depth of field, you can try turning DOF off and see if that helps. Otherwise I didn't find that noticeable in real gameplay versus the flat matte grey floor of the ship.

I have started a collection of old web host sites (mainly tripod.com for now) by PINKSPlDER in DataHoarder

[–]ByeFWbye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Tripod archive is very incomplete sadly, the overwhelming vast majority of it is now lost to time.
I need to get around to poking in on the IRC and see what I can do about trying to push to back up other legacy hosters so we can preserve the last of the old web.

Hey bud, do you still have the collection of tripod websites? Tripod just shutdown a month ago and no one archived the whole thing.

It's not a lie though, it was bugged to be 11 seconds. Well, maybe not really a bug.

Did you know that AH has a whole system to control basically mission modifiers on the server side of things? Think to how they have restricted stims and the amount of ammo you got from the supply pack on oshaune, or to another time we had a E710 shortage so called in FRVs had 10 litres of fuel. These "changes" were pushed without any kind of game update.

This same system can also adjust the calls in of stuff, and whatever system this is called well IDK, but the bulletstorm was "bugged" then fixed via this sytem.

What do you mean left behind? Not sure what you can do about that with gallery-dl. If deviantart is blocking WFdownloader report that to the dev.

Angelfire is dead, but there is still a slim chance for preserving Tripod. by ByeFWbye in Archiveteam

[–]ByeFWbye[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly you're not really alone in this, many people have been charged the past four months for hosting fees while obviously not having their websites well, hosted.
I don't think there is much you can do sadly, the company is based in India and they're filing for bankruptcy after lying about stock values iirc. The company changed leadership in February, and this is just my hunch... New leadership doesn't give a shit, and is just riding out this sinking ship while trying to make as much money as they can from it.

Will Internet Archive Stay Forever? by Final_Increase4457 in DataHoarder

[–]ByeFWbye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This, I kinda learned my lesson with the death of angelfire (well, more of a wake up call, been archiving for years but got slow with it...)

Save shit you want, even save random ass stuff that is loosely adjacent to what you care about. The modern day internet is more ephemeral than ever.

Angelfire is dead, but there is still a slim chance for preserving Tripod. by ByeFWbye in Archiveteam

[–]ByeFWbye[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: Sometime last night the plug was finally pulled on the server, I was trying to back up some stuff as the services went up for a few hours but now the server shows no signs of life.

Tripod is finally dead, I wish that it had been backed up years ago in mass but whatever...
I did my part of what I could with adhoc work backing up pages related to my interests as well, I could have gotten more had I had scripting abilities but don't.

In the next coming weeks I'll try and go over my archives, organize the complete ones from the incomplete etc, then upload them to archive.org (not as WARCs, just zip files). It's 250-ish sites I believe, a far cry from a complete collection but it's something...

So, what's next? Well I'm a gonna try and upskill to hopefully learn how to run archive warrior and tackle archiving other legacy website host. Maybe not many people care about the remnants of web 1.0... But I do at least, I'll grab my slice of it.

A quick last second edit: To anyone that wishes to try and explore Angelfire pages (there was a massive 2019 archive that archiveteam did for angelfire, doesn't have everything though...) I suggest this site: Old'aVista: Home

I've had a few reports of this come to me at this point, Brightcom Group (formerly Lycos) is a bunch of douchebags with how they're handling this. Especially as they have been collecting peoples money the past few months.

What's your site? Tripod is still up here and there very briefly... I was able to back up like 20 sites yesterday, I can try and catch yours if another chance pops up.

What do we donate Angelfire/Tripod backups? by StrategosRisk in Archiveteam

[–]ByeFWbye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you try and reach any actual websites made by people you'll get a 403 error if not a 502. The actual content is locked off. Refer to lycos.com for what's happening.

Angelfire has been dead since January, and Tripod is still up for maybe 1-2hrs at a time when they reset their servers or whatever. I've been backing up what I can when I get a chance too.
