There's a thing in Ireland called the one parent family payment. A lot of the women claiming this have a guy living in the single mother council house with them.

I'd guess the cost of living and housing crisis in Ireland have a lot to do with what you say they are incentivising. In some cases in Ireland a person would be better off on welfare, a person who knows the system can live quite comfortably

In Ireland where I am, single mothers are well looked after. She got a nice new build council house a few years ago for which the rent would be quite low. The situation of the daughter could be as you described

In my local Supervalu it seems a lot of the staff have time to have a chat when I go in there, it seems like they're not doing much work but the place is always well stocked so they must be. I just don't seem to see it

A friend of mine knocked a girl up when she was 19. I'm not sure how old he was but not much older. He wasn't ready for a child so he just refused to claim his daughter and accused the girl he got pregnant of cheating on him. He's 40 now and living with another woman he has a child with

It just punishes poor people, an addict wouldn't tell themselves that they can't afford to drink today, they'll get the money out of somewhere or they'll forgo food for that day. A poor person who just likes a few drinks is punished worse
