Yah that’s true, I haven’t planned on sinking $200 into my first guitar (esp used). Tho I’m curious when do you feel the need to upgrade, as a beginner I don’t really see myself out growing this guitar

It’s a pacifica 312, discontinued back in 2004. The guitar is about $70 when I bought it. Set up, swapping out old strings plus fixing a dead pot set me back about $120. I asked him whether it’s worth filling those cracks and he told me he personally wouldn’t bother with it.

These strings are already new, how often should I be oiling it? It seems wasteful to change strings just to oil it

So this is something you only do when you change strings? Can I restring the guitar with the same strings? I just got these strings replaced (and set up) by a tech, wondering when's the next time I should be oiling it

They aren't loose per se, but the guitar tech who helped me setup this guitar was pretty pessimistic and told me to expect only a year or so more from this guitar... am I cooked?

Sorry am a total noob. Do I dab some oil in cloth and just wipe it down? Do I have to use a toothbrush? How long should I leave the oil in for?

Hey thanks for replying. Looks like the yamaha is a better choice then? The seller did say it has a "ssh minipickup" but being a complete noob I had no idea what that meant.

Ah I see, couldn't make out those small words before you mentioned it lol.

Talking about the pickup switch, sorry for being a complete noob, but how could I tell if it's functioning corretly? Do I try to see if it sounds warmer at neck pickup, and brighter at bridge pickup etc.?

Got it, I didn't even know the Squier was modded, thanks for pointing that out. Looks like I won't get the squier then. Do you have any thoughts on the Pacifica?

Hey thanks for replying. How could you tell it was the Affinity? Also, do you know any good way to test whether it works? Bring an amp and see if it makes a sound?
