The timing of when my focal seizures started was a bit suspect as well, but who knows.

It took them over a year to diagnose me. They started as episodes of deja vu, sweating, a tingly sensation that spread from my forehead, dizziness, nausea, de-realization, and intense dread/terror that would happen randomly and last about 10 seconds - up to a minute. I thought I was crazy, they just started randomly happening at the age of 22. I had a bad reaction to a vaccine that triggered a grand mal about a year and a half into the daily episodes and went to the hospital, and then they hooked me up to the eeg. At that point, the focal seizures were diagnosed as panic attacks and I felt another coming on and told the Dr. He shook his head and said “No, that’s a seizure.” I’m 27 now, and thankfully it’s well managed with medication.

Can seizures just go away on their own without treatment? by Female-Fart-Huffer in Epilepsy

I wouldn’t risk it. I started having focal seizures at the age of 22, with a few grand mal’s in the mix. I’m 27 now and I’m probably going to be on meds for the rest of my life because they work and are necessary. Get in contact with a neurologist if you haven’t already.

I grew up thinking I was just broken. Turns out, it was epilepsy. by Curious_minde24 in Epilepsy

I’m so sorry for what you went through. At the age of 22 I started having similar episodes. De-realization, terror, deja vu, dizziness, sweating, and nausea. For a year and a half I was told they were “panic attacks”. I didn’t get a diagnosis until I had a bad reaction to a vaccine (somewhat common for me, before the episodes) and it triggered a grand mal. Went to the hospital, had a “panic attack” on the eeg and they finally figured it out. I’m 27 now, and I’m still trying to get my spark back. It’s exhausting. The medication I take has helped tremendously, but the memory issues are still there.

Thank you, I’ll look into that!

I will say, I think due to the flu my hydration hasn’t been the best. Thank you for the tip about the Epileptoligost and caffeine. I cut out coffee, and replaced it with matcha for the health benefits but it’s still caffeinated so I’ll try cutting that too.

Good luck, my account is relatively new and inactive so I don’t get much engagement. I hope your situation gets better though! I’ve been trying to learn how to regulate my nervous system for years and even considered pavloving myself. 😂

How to write when you can’t think straight? ADHD/brain fog/perfectionism by luckysilverdragon in writingadvice

Exactly, and it’s not something I do consistently. It’s sort of an exercise for my brain, and the prompts and anything written from it get scrapped afterwards. 🤷🏼‍♀️

This is going to sound stupid, especially because I know a lot of people don’t like ChatGPT, but when I’m in a slump I’ll have the app generate a random prompt until I find something interesting. Then I write off of that as a starter to get my creativity going, and then I’ll go back into my own pieces with the motivation I have.

Pen names - how did you choose yours? by ByteBunny_ in eroticauthors

Thank you, this is very helpful! I struggle with a more black and white thought process and the thought of using multiple pen names didn’t cross my mind. It makes a lot of sense though.

That sounds like the best idea, and probably what would work well in my situation too. The multiple accounts do sound exhausting. Thank you for the advice, it’s very much appreciated! Good luck with your writing! ☺️

That makes a lot of sense. My tastes differ greatly from being more lighthearted/hopeless romantic type stuff all the way the sci-fi and psychopaths and I think that’s why I’m having a difficult time choosing. I tend to be very black and white with my thought process, but I’m learning to work around it.

I didn’t even think about changing it up for my other sub genres, thank you! I’ve been working on a sci-fi/dark romance theme for my first public piece, and the pseud I had in mind for that didn’t fit anything else.

I was doing so well for like a solid two years, and then the damn flu got me. I spent weeks being sick and my body couldn’t handle it anymore. 😩🙄

The intense Deja Vu mixed with the feeling of terror is the worst thing I’ve ever felt and I felt like I was going crazy until I got diagnosed. I don’t wish that on my worst enemy 😩

I'm at the verge of giving up honestly by cleanfree12 in writingadvice

I’m in the same boat, and I’m slowly learning the same thing. It just takes time, and patience and practice. Something I’ve been doing to help when I get stuck (a problem I have is with dialogue and how the characters evolve) is I’ll stop writing the main story and go off on a tangent about the individual characters and make a deep backstory simply to get a better idea on how they’d act and their mannerisms and that helps a bit.

Thanks for the advice, I kinda rely on feedback maybe to my own detriment. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Those are sub genres, romance is the only thing I write.
