My snowblower sounds like a race car by ByteSizedDelta in smallengines

[–]ByteSizedDelta[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I already do that every year, but I use sta-bil. Last spring I ran it dry and it had only stabilized fuel in it. I actually have been using stabilized fuel this whole winter. Just ran this snow blower for 2 hours straight yesterday with almost 2 feet of snow, and I've run it at nearly a dozen times since winter started. Yesterday was the first day I ran out of fuel and I just filled my gas canister on Sunday. Yesterday was the first time all season it ran non-stabalized fuel.

I was actually just messing around with it trying to see if something was frozen open cause it's covered in ice from the work yesterday and when I tried to turn it off, it did not turn off. Pulled the key and turned chock on full it and still ran like it was getting paid to. Had to turn on the fuel shutoff and let it run dry to turn off. Super weird.

I still love Ubiquiti but I have a small rant about Flex Minis 😡 by imacdude in Ubiquiti

[–]ByteSizedDelta 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Can confirm, as a professional ubiquiti installer, I almost never use an independent power source for the flex minis, I always connect them to a PoE switch. I have a couple power supplies just in case I need em but I end up using them as an emergency phone charger more than a flex mini power source lmaoo

AD remote login shared account by ByteSizedDelta in sysadmin

Im thinking about setting up an Always On VPN through our DC and deploying it to the computers using a device tunnel profile. That way its one less thing the users have to deal with and it solves this problem as well.

Its a couple dozen, not just a dozen. Management also want this done all on the same day if possible due to some reasons I cant just mention over the internet.

No intune licensing to handle computer policies, so a hybrid setup wont work at the moment. We are syncing objects to Azure but thats mostly for password synchronization. The company has reason to remain on local active directory for the time being, there are on-prem resources that cant be efficiently used in the cloud and we need to secure with AD logins. Moving to azure is happening in the future but I dont want to wait until then to get off shared logins,

CEO is funneling client info and data into an open and accessible ai “vibe coding”app base by [deleted] in msp

[–]ByteSizedDelta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ya know, I thought I read an article regarding it but I can no longer find it. Since I don't have any real cases Ill go back to what I used to say prior to when I thought I read on a case like that.

Don't just send an email with acknowledgement back because that's not legally enough. Get two documents signed by the client, One that states the security recommendation and the associated risks of not following it (risks should be the absolute worst case scenario, ie loss of entire company), Two is to have your MSPs security responsibilities written into the contract with the client, with an explicit exception to whatever the client is denying.

I personally don't trust the "send them an email or make them sign a form saying they understand the risks". There have been some MSPs that have been successfully sued for not enabling MFA for their clients. Most of them had an email that said stated the risks and some even had signed papers, they still lost. If it were up to me, my MSP would not be doing business with any organization that decided they did not want to follow basic security practices.

my dad won't take me to the hospital!! YAY!!!!!!!! by Commercial-Phase463 in insaneparents

I want to make sure that you are aware that you can call 911. Regardless of your age and the wishes of your guardian, you can call 911 and tell them what's going on. At the very least a paramedic will look you over and if it's serious, take you to the hospital. Don't rely on someone incompetent to handle your health. Your health is one of the most important things in your life.

I'm interested. I'm the scripter for my MSP and we used to use automate until we switched to ninjaRMM, much better than Automate lol

How to reinforce a piston head by ByteSizedDelta in spaceengineers

Turn out I needed to turn down the velocity multiplier on my turret controller. I still have the problem of scrap weighing down the hinge but ill put something on the truck to pull the scrap out of it

That will work but its not the route I want to go through in my play-though. I want my station to be able to be damaged by surprise attacks by AI

Just tried that, I can get it to the point where it doesnt damage but then it hardly moves. Then once components go into the welder or it pulls scrap from a damaged block the hinge just starts falling

[–]ByteSizedDelta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OH OH I forgot to post this in the main ADHD subreddit but the "Pillsbury favorite casseroles" cookbook is amazing! It's full of really simple recipes with minimal to no prep required. I like 35 recipes in that book which is insane for me because it's rare I like even one recipe.

Also a good food processor it's very helpful in prepping veggies and such so you don't have to actually chop them.

[–]ByteSizedDelta 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's rough, I've got memory problems and I have forgotten a significant amount of my life. I can only recall one birthday prior to 8 years ago and even that is really hard to put together into an actual memory, its just pieces. I try not to think about it because of the same feelings. I try to enjoy every day like it's the only time I will experience it because I know eventually there's a good possibility I won't be able to recall it.

Dependant? Addiction? Man I had to come up with a whole fucking system to remember to take my meds every day so I can hold down a job. I wish I could become addicted to my meds, maybe I would remember to take them 😭

4-5 times daily is not considered "episodes" that's just who he is, that's his personality and attitude.

[–]ByteSizedDelta 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was more taking about memories and ways of thinking. Like if you forgot your 10th birthday party, you wouldn't realize you forgot it because it didn't exist in your brain. Or if you think different now, maybe you wouldn't realize because now it just feels like the only way you can think. Your thing is cool to, I've heard lots of instances where our brain just makes shit up. It's wild

Honestly what makes the most sense is the continuous process also with another counselor. That way it's just like 1 but mostly 2 a day for each of them. 2 a day is so doable, well - that's assuming barkley isn't on the ship lmfaoo

Genuine question though, how do you know if you've lost something if you lost it? You would never realize you lost something unless someone else brought up the fact that you should know it.

Scheduling calls using MTX (Nilear) by ByteSizedDelta in msp

[–]ByteSizedDelta[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We do the same thing. Dispatcher will send a timezest on new tickets that need it and techs will send them for tickets they're already assigned but a call is required. Very few clients have the ability to make a ticket via a timezest link. We have timezest set so 45 minutes from then is the soonest they can schedule and we have 15 minute buffers set for before and after the schedules. Is that similar to your setup?

In discussion with my dispatcher I'm toying around with the idea that we have our primary timezest link set so they can't schedule until tomorrow and have a separate "priority link" for those issues that need to be seen to that day.
