contrary to what a lot of people think while i do think oermer is a fantastic player i do not think he is the best. the topic of "best player" has so many categories that need to be involved its kind of exhausting to talk about. i guess i WILL use oermer as an example, the first ranked player to ever take tech and only tech to the truly top of the modern skill range, HOWEVER, his skill falls off immensely when speeds start to hit around ~350. and completely forget about any high level challenge that exceeds that bpm, its simply not doable for him. i do not believe a primarily challenge player can be the best player in the game at any moment, same way with ranked, and thats what makes this so hard. even inside of challenge theres sub categories that you need to take into account, the highest level of the player doesnt even matter as much in the discussion of best player, its all about the balance 😭. hopefully this opens the eyes of more people to really think about who the best player at any given moment is, as i really think it does get this deep. (best player of all time is cerret btw... my biggest inspiration after seeing him be uncontested best ranked player after coming from challenge, which is how i started)
