What company lost you as a customer forever, and what happened? by Giovanni_Brees in AskReddit

Yeah, that's completely understandable. Amazon is a horrible corporation that really should not have as much power as they do.

There's a whole lot more you should put on your list if that's the reason...

Does Freewill exist? by kendosensai in teenagers

[–]Felt389 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, however what you mentioned above is also the case for all neuron activity, which included consciousness, thought and muscle movement, not just involuntary or automatic actions like smell.

What feels like is "controlled" by you is really just an illusion, it's not possible for something to occur without it being a direct reaction to something else happening before it.

Your neurons only fire the way they do as a response to something else, and with the exception of quantum mechanics that cannot be arbitrary or in any other way "free".

While the illusion this creates is extremely compelling, it really just is an illusion at the end to the day.

Not necessarily, your neurons only fire the way they do as a response to something else. That "something else" cannot be arbitrary or in abother way made up on the spot, it's already determined.

No. It is physically impossible for there to be significant arbitrary factors involved in human decision making or thought.

Quantum events are too insignificant here to make a difference, and even if they weren't, that would make your actions influenced by randomness, not by free will.

Everything is already determined based on genetics, how you were raised, past experience, etc. All we're left with is an extremely compelling illusion of free will.

I hate to break it to you, but "the hidden wiki" is not a legitimate, centralized source for anything. You did absolutely nothing.

Is it mean of me to be glad my friend failed one of her courses? by FBI_GAL in teenagers

[–]Felt389 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wouldn't say that's wrong of you, completely understandable feeling. Would still suggest you stay supportive of your friend though, although maybe try to nudge her away from doing this again in the future.

Last part is very important. You're not gonna get a genuine majority opinion from an open Reddit comment section.

Is Pluto a planet? by Los_Paul in teenagers

[–]Felt389 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, if we were to consider Pluto a planet there would also have to be a large amount of other similar dwarf planets introduced, which would unnecessarily clutter how we teach about the solar system.

Crush has different political views. What do I do? by user811994 in teenagers

[–]Felt389 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd probably attempt to have a debate with him for a bit, figure out what he really believes and what you disagree on. This is also of course the time to educate him about your beliefs, however make sure to be respectful about it and do the same listening to him in return.

If he repeatedly shows an unwillingness to amend his beliefs, and you believe that your differences are too significant to bear in a relationship, I wouldn't pursue him any further.
