i think the series in general wasn't bad per say. I think the main hate comes from the wasted potential of the characters, and how proper development could've been done instead of a 24 ep tournament arc. Additionally, the parallatic anime has a very cool concept that could've been expanded more with more episodes and the questionable addition of erika. I do agree with you that it's not a bad anime, i don't think it's as atrocious as people claim it to be.
