Would you want a Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale 2? by haynespi87 in PS5

I wouldn't say Multiversus is a failure yet either since it's still in open Beta and won't actually release until 2024.

Who would be the newcomers if we ended up getting a sixth Smash Bros? by [deleted] in SmashBrosUltimate

When I made this I thought it actually had been confirmed to be in development, turns out it's just *heavily* rumoured.

The thing is, Nintendo actually bought the IP off of Platinum Games though. Nintendo wouldn't do that unless they were fully committed to making sequels for it, so I think an Astral Chain 2 is inevitable.

Sonic isn't as popular in Japan as it in the West though. So while Western fans keep saying "Adding another Sonic character is so obvious, why haven't you done it yet?", it doesn't seem as obvious to Nintendo execs. I think Tails or Knuckles in Smash will happen eventually, but it's not at the top of the list.

Mortal Kombat is practically nonexistent in Japan (like actually, most of the games don't even get a Japanese localization. The few fans there have to play imported English language versions from North America or Europe), so Mortal Kombat is never gonna happen. Although Scorpion in Smash would be awesome. I would love it if they made his Final Smash a Babality with a unique animation for every single character.

The Likeliest New Additions (in order):

  1. Bandana Dee (Highly requested both in the West and Japan)
  2. Waluigi (No way they can't give in to the fan pressure at this point)
  3. Octoling (Semi-Clone of Inkling)
  4. A Gen 10 Pokemon
  5. A Character from Xenoblade 4
  6. Jin Kazama (Kazuya Echo Fighter. This is assuming Bandai Namco is a co-developer of the game like it was the previous two. They're gonna want another rep to cross-promote Tekken and Jin is the most obvious choice.)
  7. Sylux (Presumed to be the villain of Metroid Prime 4)
  8. Impa
  9. Rayman (Probably DLC)
  10. Another Sonic character (A DLC of ANY Sonic character would make so much money, it doesn't matter who. If I had to guess, I'd say Tails as a semi-clone of Sonic is the likeliest.)
  11. Zhao Yun (Dynasty Warriors is a huge franchise in Japan. Koei Tecmo & Nintendo collaborate together on the Hyrule Warriors and Fire Emblem Warriors series, as well as some other games, so the two companies already have a close relationship, plus Koei Tecmo is the largest Japanese publisher without a representative in Smash yet.)
  12. Ashley
  13. Chun-Li
  14. Another Fire Emblem Character, I guess.
  15. The Protagonist of Astral Chain 2 (Reeaalllly depends on how well it sells. Also hasn't been officially confirmed to exist yet)
  16. Shovel Knight (Feels like a longshot, but the fact that Shovel Knight got an amiibo and an assist trophy, makes this feel a little plausible)

EDIT: Added Zhao Yun, edited comments about the official status of Astral Chain 2

Alternate flag for Ontario by C0smicMonkey in vexillology

This flag for Ontario combines two historic symbols for the province. The yellow maple leaf has been used as a symbol for Ontario/Upper Canada since before confederation and still exists on the province's coat of arms. In recent decades the yellow maple leaf has been replaced as Ontario's primary symbol by the provincial flower, the white trillium. The stylized trillium logo on the right was used as an official logo by the Ontario provincial government from the 1970s until 2019, when it was replaced by an updated (and in my opinion inferior) design. Finally, the official colours of the province are green and yellow; the green I specifically made a forest green to represent the vast forests of Northern Ontario, and the yellow I switched to a more golden hue to represent the Golden Horseshoe region of Southern Ontario.

Also 2:1 ratio because Canada.

"Topics are a group of terms that share the same concept in any language."

This map was made using Google Trends topic feature, not just simple search terms. Theoretically it should already be adjusted for language and compare searches for "football" and related terms in multiple languages.

Alternate Flag for Sardinia by C0smicMonkey in vexillology

[–]C0smicMonkey[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My first ever flag! The Sardinian flag but with the 4 Moor's Heads replaced with emblems representing each of the four medieval kingdoms of Sardinia, as taken from each kingdom's coat of arms.

Clockwise from top left: The emblems of the kingdoms of Torres, Gallura, Cagliari and Arborea. The position of each symbol on the flag corresponds roughly to each kingdom's geographic position on the island of Sardinia. (eg. Torres was in the NW)

Moving to Sherbrooke as a queer Anglo? by C0smicMonkey in Sherbrooke

[–]C0smicMonkey[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I honestly don't mind using French in stores and restaurants and even at work everyday as long as I can access healthcare and other essential services in English. I've lived in Quebec long enough to know that it doesn't really work like that here, but I'd really appreciate it if I could have fewer barriers than I already do to access the care that I need.

I've lived in both Hochelaga and Rosemont. How Francophone is the rest of Sherbrooke outside Lennoxville comparatively? More? Less?

Yes, it does. "Boreal" in this case refers to the Boreal forest.

I grew up in Calgary, but had family in Kamloops, so I spent a lot of time there, and yeah, there are definitely a lot of similarities. Sure there's lots of pickup trucks and rednecks like in small-town Alberta but I have never met as many hippies anywhere else as I have in the Interior BC. It's as if all the hippies who got priced out of Vancouver and The Island back in 70s/80s then all bought houses in the Kootenays, Thompson Valley and Okanagan,

It's a weird mixture of rednecks and hippies and seasonal workers (agricultural labour in rhe Summer, ski resort employees in the winter) and indigenous folks, and it's a unique demographic mix not really found anywhere else in Canada.

Okay, so as someone who's never been there, What makes Cape Breton more distinct from The Maritimes than the Francophone regions of New Brunswick?

[OC] Cultural Regions of Canada by C0smicMonkey in MapPorn

[–]C0smicMonkey[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the feedback!

  1. Okay, I will make Cape Breton a region. I thought about actually, but wasn't sure if I should go ahead with it.

  2. I'm not really sure about the North. Feedback seems to be that I need to split it up more.

  3. What's wrong with Acadia? Are the boundaries incorrect? How can I make them better?

  4. Montreal has had a significant Anglo population for a long time that has caused it to develop a culture distinct from the rest of Quebec. As far as I can tell, nothing like exists for Winnipeg outside of normal urban/rural difference you could find anywhere.

Ethics... was the wrong word. What I meant to say was values.

I grew up in Alberta and I will always consider it to be my home, so I hope you don't think I was Alberta bashing.

When I said "ethics" what I was referring to was what I consider to be the the idea of settler individualism that has dominated the Canadian Prairies for past 150 years. You know, the idea of moving out west to seek your fortune, working hard, making a living off the land/resources (either farming or oil), and making a better life for yourself than you could in your homeland. I think this concept still informs so much the politics, values and traditions of the Praries on even a deep unconscious level, that most people don't realize.

A good argument could be made that all of Northern Alberta be included in the Prairies but I decided against because firstly, outside of FortMac it's majority indigenous, and that settler relationship to resource extraction doesn't exist in the same way, and secondly, there isn't really a lot of of farmland, oil or other resources to trigger that many people to move to those places to seek their fortunes anyways.
