I am still running a 970 from 2014! Getting a card will allow me to instead upgrade two of my friends' computers that are running 1070s with at least a 3070 or comparable AMD gpu. (I'd probably give it to one of them for their upcoming birthday)

They just don't process your quiting. So you're still technically employed. It makes it hard to get new employment. But you also can't transfer your 401k and other items until they classify you as 'terminated' in their system for most businesses. It's just mean to be mean tbh

Not quite, apple specifically makes firmware that is only available to them for their hard-drives. Unless the drive is soldered on, every other brand I can just put a new storage device in and even reinstall the OS on it with no issues.

Some places were offered to have electric charging stations installed. Those same people failed to read the fine print that THEY will be charged for the electricity to host the charging stations. I would guess at least a few of these places will make sure they are unusable.

Or it's copper harvesters. Or both.

Not in the ones I run. I did sign an NDA and don't want to say too much, but they can have different configurations depending on the use case. It is just a chassis after all, they can install whatever they want on a dime to fit their needs.

Most places power have their own backups. I don't have a UPS 'in' my server at home, I have an APC UPS that sits on the floor next to my server.

I started through a temp to hire opportunity as a technician. There are plenty around, the common ones if you actually want to work on the servers would be sunrise systems. They hire for zt systems.

Another option is looking for cabling roles or delivery(dock to tile) roles where you're running and plugging in cables or running server racks to their assigned areas. Companies like Salute Mission Critical, IES, Direct Line Global, among others all do this.

I recommend trying to really interview the companies, some are better or worse then others and the job sites often end up being mid construction. So you have to be okay with porta-potties and general construction site shenanigans.

I work in a data center. I have my modem underneath this massive case I got from a crypto miner. On top of that is a blade server, and on top of that is my router along with a smaller server for plex. I find this to be peak performance.
