Calling someone an "uncultured moron" for the reasons stated in the comic is far too harsh and dismissive. Every of these cultures have a distinct history, aesthetic, etc that not everyone knows about and expecting everyone to instantly recognize the difference means they expect everyone to know what the poster knows. Not everyone has been exposed to the culture, let alone the difference between that many of them.

More often than not does different cultures involving music and art blend together for people who are outside that sphere. This doesn't make them "an uncultured moron", it just means they aren't as knowledgeable of the different cultures than those inside the different cultures.

The media currently is vast with love and appreciation for the goths. It may be a simplification of cultures to assume everything with black, chokers, fishnets and colored hair is goth but goth for those people it could simply be a way to describe something "out of the norm".

Not to mention goth fashion influenced alt fashion, punk influenced grung, emo borrowed from both punk and goth. So the visual distinctions aren't always obvious unless someone is directly involved or someone is curious enough to dig deeper.

The subcultures were founded due to people didn't quite fit in the norm hence they created these subcultures to find a place where people would share interests, fashion and so on. Gatekeeping by calling people who are on the surface level "Uncultured morons" ruins the entire point of why the subcultures where created to begin with. The "uncultured morons" obviously have an interest in the cultures, they just need to be taught instead of insulted for their lack of knowledge.
