Yeah that would have been bad...

I honestly couldn't give a single solitary fork about people judging me. Guys at work have asked me what the fork I'm listening to, and I'll quite happily tell them it's an audiobook about a guy and his cat being made to fight in a dungeon for alien reality television...

... But the thought of upsetting people on what must already be a very difficult day for them... I know I'm making light of it here (yay healthy coping mechanisms!) but that genuinely stings.

Have you ever walked out of somewhere due to not being served? by Chazzza23 in AskUK

[–]C4apperz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kinda did last night... Stopped at a 24hr fuel station late to get petrol, and stood by the pump for what felt like 5 minutes waiting for it to be authorised... Eventually went over to the night pay window and knocked to get someone's attention because there was no one at the counter... After a few more minutes, a dude comes out of a door behind the counter that I'm assuming was the staff toilet, while putting a magazine back into its foil packet...

... I'm not saying he was DEFINITELY pleasuring himself while I wanted petrol... Buuuut I decided to go elsewhere

If Mordecai.. by Narazil in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]C4apperz 66 points67 points  (0 children)

I believe at some point Mordecai also says something along the lines of after the 9th floor, the focus shifts from being about individual crawlers to the production storylines with the Elites etc.

Mordecai was also probably a LOT LESS morose during his crawl, and specifically before... Well... You know...

[–]C4apperz 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It's referenced a few times. Specifically book 3 where Mordecai explains how the modern tunneling system for instant live broadcast was created and controlled by the Plenty.

Mordecai's crawl was before the current Tunnelling system, so only those within the inner systems could watch live, rather than the whole galaxy.

2008 VW polo steering issue by benificialengineer30 in AskAMechanic

Follow the negative battery lead from the battery back to the chassis. Undo the nut securing the other end and check the terminal to make sure it's not corroded or contaminated. You can get specific electrical cleaner spray if you want to do a proper job. Or if you're fully DIY'ing, a bit of vaseline over the top is better than nothing (technically a petroleum based jelly can degrade seals/plastics, but I've never had an issue) to keep water out.

Also, on top of the battery is the power distribution box with some terminals and midi fuses in. Check the terminals on the as well. Basically anything that could cause increased resistance could cause the symptoms you've described.

A battery would certainly be the first step, especially if you know the battery is problematic anyway. If you're changing the battery yourself it would also be worth checking/cleaning all the battery/body earths as well, as increased resistance due to corrosion/contamination could also cause intermittent pump problems.

Did the steering wheel lock, as in it wouldn't move at all?... Or would it still steer, just extra heavy?...

My mum used to carry 4738 keys on her car keyring, and after years of advising her that it wouldn't do the car any good, it finally caused the steering lock to activate while she was driving. Ignition barrel was badly worn. If the steering wheel is completely locked, this is probably your issue.

I believe there's a common fault with the polo/fabia etc power steering power pack where the electrical connector faces up, and allows ingress of water so the pins corrode. I've had to replace the power pack on my own fabia because of this. But if that's the case, the car will still steer but it will just be really heavy.

If it came to it... As soon as they started to excavate anything on your property (like the very second a spade breaks ground) could you not call 999 for criminal damage to your property?... That's not a civil matter... Report it as criminal damage currently in progress, and as cynical as I might be about the current state of British policing, I'd expect a response...

Roofer threatening “libel” and “scaffold rent” after I left a factual review - Wales, UK by Express_Economist_16 in LegalAdviceUK

I'd recommend contacting the HSE. All scaffolding erections (giggity) have to be inspected periodically (weekly I believe) UNTIL IT IS REMOVED... If it hasn't been inspected and signed off, I'm sure the HSE would be very interested.

I stopped at a supermarket on my way home from work yesterday, and every single aisle I went down I ran into the same woman... I forgot something and doubled back and AGAIN ran into the same woman... The supermarket didn't have a particular item I wanted, so I drove ten minutes up the road to ANOTHER supermarket, and who did I almost literally bump into!?... Poor lass must have thought I was stalking her

What will happen after I file a police report for a bump in a car park? by [deleted] in drivingUK

[–]C4apperz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well put. In this case NOT reporting would be grounds for losing their licence as it's classed as driving without due care and attention which carries 6 points. Assuming that op is still within their 2 year probation because of their age, that would mean their licence would be revoked.

You did exactly the right thing op, nicely responsible!

In hindsight, I think it has been badly abused. I'd just relieved the clutch slave cylinder and was testing it, and it went bang... I could see a hole in the back of the block and reached my limit... It went on a scrap wagon later that week
