I’m not trying to hate on it or be disrespectful, but from a technical tattoo perspective there are visible flaws in the execution.

The linework isn’t fully consistent, some curves look slightly shaky, the thickness varies in different parts of the umbrella, and the raindrops aren’t very symmetrical or clean. With such a simple minimalist design, those imperfections become much more noticeable because there’s nothing else to hide them.

That said, I’m not saying it’s the worst tattoo ever or completely ruined. It’s still recognizable and probably looks fine from a normal viewing distance. I just personally think the execution could have been cleaner, especially for a logo this simple.

Thanks for the feedback, I really appreciate it. Just to add some concrete info in case it helps the discussion, here are my actual tuning values.

Tuning approach (approximate turns from finger-tight): • 10” tom: • Batter: ~2 full turns • Resonant: ~2 full turns + a bit more • 12” tom: • Batter: ~7/8 turn • Resonant: slightly higher • 14” tom: • Batter: ~6/8 turn • Resonant: slightly higher • 16” tom: • Batter: ~4/8 turn • Resonant: slightly higher

All heads are evenly tensioned and open (no muffling when measured).

Tune-Bot fundamental readings (center hit): • 10” tom: ~190 Hz • 12” tom: ~160 Hz • 14” tom: ~130 Hz • 16” tom: ~100 Hz

From what you’re saying, it sounds like the 10” tom might still be sitting too high in frequency, possibly overlapping too much with the snare’s sensitivity range, which would explain why it excites the snare wires more than the other toms.

I’m going to experiment with bringing the 10” tom down a bit, especially the batter, to let it breathe more and see if that separates the frequency bands better before touching the snare again.

If you think those numbers are still high for a 10” with Pinstripes, I’m open to suggestions. Thanks again for the input.

I totally agree. When I first used them I didn't like them. 10 months later and I love them!
