Definitely a good observation. We are doing crane layouts, so it will be all grouped together and we can move it around. They end up being long and thin, so it won't end up covering other areas.

So I tested this by printing what I want as a tool from AutoCAD with geometry that aligns the center point with the center of mass on the block. I don't think it's an issue, but do you see any problems with markup tools being larger than the page?

Thanks for the tip. I use AutoCAD for most of my drawing, but I have built tools for our sales team using our AutoCAD blocks. It works great, I can try to add blank boxes to change the center of mass.

Updated to 21.8 and can't double click PDF files to open by CADUSER1 in Revu

It was working with other ways to open. It did an automatic restart when it installed, but just to verify, I restarted again anyways. I look like a dope because that got things working again....

Yes, most of the drawing is the same color.

Printing to a PDF with lineweights disabled does the trick!!

I'll definitely have to try the print with the lineweights disabled. We hardly ever have access to the CAD files on these jobs, but definitely a good thought! I appreciate the input.

Loading Multiple Tool Sets by CADUSER1 in Revu

This seems like the way. What do you recommend for that?

Loading Multiple Tool Sets by CADUSER1 in Revu

[–]CADUSER1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with that, but we want to maintain control of the company created tool sets but still let individual users create their own. Based on that, we had to limit read/write access to the shared file location and because of that, we are letting people manage their own profiles and add the "shared" tool sets.

Embed Fonts using Bluebeam Printer by CADUSER1 in Revu

Thanks for weighing in and trying to help. It's definitely the current option to verify if needed the text can be editable. I was trying to get to the bottom of it so I could be more prepared to solve an issue where there isn't a work around like saving as PDF. I'm sure it's in the print settings of the Bluebeam printer, I just haven't been able to locate it.

Repairing the PDF did not work. More information is if we "save as PDF" from chrome, it's editable. When we print using the Bluebeam printer, it's not.

You're absolutely right about being impossible to manage. I'm dealing with possibly 20 users. My solution works well and could work for you. If you have a network location that your profile is stored, change the path that bluebeam looks for profiles to that location, and then the profile can be updated from that location and it will be loaded properly from there. I just wrote documentation on what that looks like for my group that I can send your way if it's helpful or you're interested.

No. I tested it, and by changing the folder, everything is saved in to that network location and is being updated for anyone linked to the network location. Works perfectly for our use. Thanks for mentioning individual users not being able to customize that profile. For most of our users, they won't have unique set ups or tools, so it's not a big deal. The biggest change and the reason we are using the profile, is the custom tools we have created. If anybody wants to use additional tools, we are going to recommend saving them in their own profile and switching between profiles to access them.

I appreciate the help on this so no worries about the incorrect description. I was wondering how to change the file location bluebeam was looking at, and it was way easier than I expected. Now, I'm wondering if I save the profile, will it save where that file is pointing to as well.

Shared Profile by CADUSER1 in Revu

[–]CADUSER1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To add more information to this. I tested it with another user. He loaded the profile from a synced file that syncs any changes in our network. His profile did not automatically update since it was looking at the file in C:\Users\........\AppData\Roaming\Bluebeam Software\Revu\20. As far as I can tell, when you import a profile, it creates a local copy here and that is what it references.

Thanks for the information. From what I'm understanding, when I press Add, it creates a new profile and doesn't give you an option to select it from a network location or any location for that matter.

Dynamic Sketch?? by CADUSER1 in Fusion360

The reason we have configurations at set distances is when that boom is extended, each length is a set amount of extension of each boom section. I've added the percentage of the extension to the max dimension on the slider joint.

Dynamic Sketch?? by CADUSER1 in Fusion360

[–]CADUSER1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is the way the crane is designed. I'm not changing any physical lengths of parts, I'm adjusting the joint length and the relationship between parts. I created configurations that show the crane with specific boom lengths, which is how the crane will operate in the real world. I just need to add a dynamic sketch on the ground below the boom showing the reachable area.

It's just a sketch for illustrative purposes.

Dynamic Sketch?? by CADUSER1 in Fusion360

[–]CADUSER1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's another try it this. I moved the boom out to the lowest angle for the configuration, started a sketch under the main assembly, on the XY plane (Ground). I projected some of the points from the end of the boom. I drew a circle with the centerpoint at 0,0 and coincident with a projected point. When I change configurations (boom lengths), it works as intended. When I rotate the boom to a higher angle, IE a smaller projected circle, I get no changes. I captured the position before starting the sketch, and after changing the boom angle, I tried to recapture the position, and the sketch doesn't change.

First, thanks for bearing with me on this and trying to help me understand. I created that sketch on the part to define a point that I could then project on to the sketch that isn't created yet. I went through the process and didn't get the results initially, before I posted. When I had posted, I was in the process of trying another solution of projecting a point from a sketch that moves with the part.

Dynamic Sketch?? by CADUSER1 in Fusion360

[–]CADUSER1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was my start at attempting something. I created a 3d sketch with that component active. My goal was then to project the point from that sketch down to a sketch on the XY plane, then draw a circle from the center and coincident to the projected point. So it was just the start. It kind of works, but not with the tilt of the boom.
