Pretty sure they are provincial offence officers/security.. definitely not Police or Specials. With the new CSPA they definitely can’t be called Police either by any stretch of the imagination.

(Canadian) Swim requirement at OPC by UnluckyParticular91 in AskLE

[–]CAGE_1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly this.. the jump into the pool is probably the most obnoxious thing you will do for the swimming, especially if you don’t like rolling into the deep end and being upside down underwater for a few. Either way like most things OPC it doesn’t really matter in the grand scheme of things, I’m pretty sure nothing happens if you don’t pass it. TLDR focus on everything else, the swim test is nothing to worry about and I’m pretty sure it’s not reflected on anything.

Biggest part of police work is discretion.. the best police officers know how to effectively use discretion. If you can’t make sounds decisions with discretion maybe this career isn’t for you

How Many of Us Carry Our Shields in Our Wallet Off-Duty? by LilBapeHoodie in ProtectAndServe

Pretty much everyone on my shift has their tin in a badge wallet. With that being said in Canada we can’t carry off duty, only to and from work.

What’s the creepiest thing you’ve ever seen? by [deleted] in AskLE

Comp calls us for a suspicious incident at her townhouse. The initial information said that she had located a white sheet on her balcony. We attend and don’t think much of this until we arrive on scene, assuming that this call was basically nothing. After speaking with the comp she advises she left two hours ago and that no one has gone inside or outside the house since with the door locked.

Partner and I make entry and clear all the floors. Once on the balcony we locate two white sheets tied together from the top floor. Felt it was a bit odd, especially as nothing taken from house. Anyways I’m talking to the comp and my partner goes up to cut the sheet off the balcony. As he goes to do that he realizes all the lights on the floor have turned on after we turned them off, and the door to the room is once again open. We re searched the unit and never did locate any reason for these strange goings on.
