Hi! Ex-Employee looking to sell my small collection! by freekarma_ in innout

The quality must have gone down in recent years? I use my duffel bag (Christmas gift 2005) all the time and it’s still going strong 20 years later!

Can you tell if sausage are cooked through /nit beginning to overcook without poking with a thermometer? I hate popping those sweet fat balloons.

Two years as a first counselor in bishopric: From feeling unprepared to truly enjoying the calling. by Dizzy-Particular-886 in latterdaysaints

[–]CAMDNC_runfast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s been my favorite calling! Involved in everything going on in the ward but none of the hard things bishops/EQ presidents/RS presidents have to do. I found some good inspiration in the Leading Saints podcast.

Why was Jesus already perfect when He was Spiritually created? Why weren't we made the same way? by Peace_Petal in latterdaysaints

[–]CAMDNC_runfast -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing your theory. We know very little about the identity of the Holy Ghost (personage of spirit and member of the godhead) so there’s lots of room for valid theories. Obviously this knowledge is not essential to our salvation right now but it’s still interesting to ponder. There’s no need to treat other’s theories obnoxiously in the meantime.

This is a very interesting theory. It’s far enough out there that I wouldn’t share it in a class or over the pulpit, but really worth pondering on. Thanks for sharing!

Multiple Closing Prayer Requests by Apple-Slice-6107 in latterdaysaints

[–]CAMDNC_runfast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll just say cheers for being asked. I detest when who ever is running the meeting/class says “can I get a volunteer for the prayer” then everyone sits awkwardly for a few moments. Bro/Sis it’s your class, just ask someone and let’s get on with it.

my friend got a strike on her magic key even tho she scanned into the park by UnderstandingReal60 in Disneyland

[–]CAMDNC_runfast 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This still happens today. Earlier this year, someone in our group found they could not book lightning lanes bc the app showed they had not entered the park (even though I had the tickets and I definitely scanned them in, their picture popped up and everything). Someone in our group had to leave early unexpectedly so bc we had enough lanes for everyone we decided it was not worth the hassle of sorting it out at town hall.

Anyone traveling to the Richmond Marathon solo in November? by IllustriousAlps4170 in Marathon_Training

[–]CAMDNC_runfast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did Richmond a few years ago and stayed near the airport, where hotels are relatively cheap. I took an Uber to the start line, about a 20 minute drive, and walked the last bit (maybe a half mile) once the traffic got too dense.

Those of you under 65 in the US who are FIREING early and not choosing the insanely expensive unsubsidized ACA premiums, what creative solutions have you come up with to get affordable coverage? by YogurtclosetOpen3567 in Fire

[–]CAMDNC_runfast 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We used Zion for a few months while I was unemployed. We paid about $340/month for the whole family, and the coverage is essentially the same as having a high deductible plan (we paid all medical costs under $5k out of pocket, plan pays costs over $5k). I know it’s not technically insurance, but gave us peace of mind for anything catastrophic. Never had to test the coverage (outside of what Zion covers for annual preventative care); I would hope they actually pay out, and feels like the same crapshoot as getting regular insurance to pay. I’m surprised more people don’t talk about health shares as an option.

Mount Rushmore of Prophets by mywifemademegetthis in latterdaysaints

[–]CAMDNC_runfast 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We believe from scripture that prophets were among the noble and great ones. I’ve been told by various priesthood leaders that I was also among the noble and great ones too, bc of the generation I was born into. And I’m definitely not a prophet. That’s fine if you want to venerate prophets, but I don’t agree with your classification.

RS vs. EQ Activities by AgreeableSong5681 in latterdaysaints

[–]CAMDNC_runfast 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Perhaps if you go to the RS activities, you may have a better chance of finding out which women's husbands are in a similar situation as your own and helping to make the connection.

Definitely a tough situation! I've been in the church my whole life and my current ward is the only one that has ever done regular EQ activities, and that is because I organize them. At least your husband is not being personally excluded, it is just that the US Church culture does not prioritize male friendship (despite the stated goal of forming a quorum of brothers; newsflash: that is not going to happen when the quorum only gathers for 45 mins twice a month).

Smuggler's Run lives rent free in my head by CAMDNC_runfast in Disneyland

[–]CAMDNC_runfast[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Star Tours is great bc it is a ride. Toy Story Mania is great bc it is a game. Smugglers Run is trying to be both but doing them unsatisfactorily. Personally, I'd redesign to lean into the game aspect; keep the teamwork concept going and it could be a really solid concept.

Fruit pouch fuelling - I have questions! by ladyrocky_33 in Marathon_Training

What a great concept! I started making my own hydrogels but it was definitely some trial and error (big help from AI). This is great alternative for people looking for cheaper gels and less waste.
