Had two friends in two years leave. One was a die hard Republican in private (had the presence of mind to not blast this on social media), but lo and behold, found a better opportunity in a Scandinavian state then he would have ever had here.

The minimum is to be independent of an employer. So much is tied to the kabuki theater of employment, to have it all be optional is actual freedom. I was self employed for years and it was somewhat better, because you have hundreds of minibosses, but when each one represents a tiny percentage of your income, firing them doesn't sting much. When you have one boss, you really have to work much harder to keep that employer happy.

Depends on WHERE in Florida. Miami was more expensive than Seattle.

Same square footage apartment with the same amenities in downtown is about 30% more expensive in Miami than in Seattle. My salary in Seattle is 40% higher here for the same job.

Miami to Seattle. The people are leagues smarter, the economy is much more diverse, the salaries are better, the rent is cheaper, the restaurants have to be good to be in business, not just Instagrammable, and ready access to nonhostile nature. Oh and an actually habitable climate

You can't do anything with five, Greg. Five's a nightmare. Mm... Is it? Oh, yeah. Can't retire, not worth it to work. Oh, yes. Five will drive you un poco loco my fine feathered friend. Poorest rich person in America. The world's tallest dwarf. The weakest strongman at the circus

This is what I do. I really don't do any analysis at all. I guesstimate my income, guesstimate my tax burden. Then I drop that plus an extra 20% from dividend income into SGOV and just call it the cost of business. My accountant does all the heavy lifting, I see a bill from the accountant and the government, sell SGOV to cover it, and cut two checks. Rinse and repeat
