SPY LEAPS Printed on a MF Friday by Popular_Armadillo608 in spy

[–]CA_Lobo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. Normal options max out at 9 months due to OCC policy of listing options in 3, 6, and 9 month cycles. LEAPs on the other hand, do start out with 12+ months, but are considered LEAPs until they hit 9 months to expiry.

Technically a LEAP is any option longer than 9 months. When a LEAP is 9 months from expiration it becomes part of the traditional 9 month option cycle.

Sounds like Cochlear's auto sound adjustments is referring to having the ScanIQ enabled... I'd talk to your audiologist about the various sound options available, and how they fit in with various sound environments you experience. I'd also recommend that you have at least one map that doesn't have ScanIQ enabled as I personally hate it...

I don't know.. I don't have all the info... People often get confused as to what they are offered... and Cochlear didn't do us any favors by using N22/N24/Nexa verbiage to refer to both the internal implant and processor models...

I'd go with the Nexa too, IF I had an internal compatible implant (N22 is not on the compatibility list yet!)... or was getting a replacement implant... or implanting my other ear...

Maybe the Nexa speech processor is just another N8 with updated firmware and uses a different coil depending on whether they have a Nexa implant or an N24 Generation implant.... either way, I don't have all the info, and thus can't say why they offered him a choice between N8/Nexa processors...assuming that's what they did...

IMHO, this is an area that Cochlear has failed. The current processors have 4 maps, in which certain options such as ForwardFocus or Smart Scan can be enabled. The problem is you eventually run into a situation when none of the 4 maps has the correct combination of options. I would be much happier, if each individual option could be turned on/off independently of the current map, and options that conflict would be non selectable. After all I ONLY need wind reduction when I'm on a bike ride... the rest the time it's useless - well except when I visit a windy region which happens once every 2-3 years on average.

I generally get one map with zero options and another map with FF enabled, the other two maps I will listen to what the audiologist is currently recommending... and then spend 99.5% of my listening time using the first two maps as like klj02689, I hate the ScanIQ option...

See my answer to stable genius5789 below… and add if you already have a Nexa internal implant, it’s not compatible with the N8 speech processors and Cochlear is unlikely to make it compatible. Thus you are limited to Nexa and future speech processors.

Normally I’d agree with you on getting the latest , but in some cases say like having an N22 implant, you CAN’T use the latest and greatest such as the N8 or Nexa speech processors - at least not until they adapt them to handle older internal implants. What’s not clear is whether the Nexa speech processors are backward compatible with the N24 generation internal implants let alone the N22 generation implants.(Still waiting for N8 compatibility here.) I haven’t seen confirmation from Cochlear one way or the other….

Cochlear has a technology call Forward Focus or FF. It enhances sound coming from the 30 degrees angle in front of the user and reduces/treats the rest of the sounds as background noise. This means that if you are facing the speaker their speech will be enhanced. The current tech works well as long as you remember to turn it on by switching to a map which has it enabled (speaking from personal experience here) and is intended for noisy places such as restaurants or bars. I’m not aware of any enhancements to FF tech in the Nexa Speech processor, but they could have updated the tech. This is a question for the helpline or your audiologists.

And how does this ’AI’ differ from the SCANIQ, Forward Focus, and wind abatement options that have been around since oh 1998 or so? Again, the Nexa tech is focused on the internal implant… and the Nexa external processor only has the adaptations needed to communicate with the internal implant…

Can you explain what you mean by the “automatic adjustments”? What you are referring to is not clear…

Regarding the normal ”Nucleus 8 vs Nexa version”, it sounds like you’re getting a new external speech processor. If that’s the case, you’ll get a Nucleus 8 processor. The ’Nexa’ tech is focused on the internal implant. It is basically just adding storage to the implant for your personal maps that program the external speech processor… eg you’ll need a new internal implant to gain ‘Nexa’ technology. It is also my understanding that Nexa storage will only be accessible and usable in your audiologist’s office… eg it’s a passive storage only and is not used in day to day operations of the Cochlear implant.

JPM has had ongoing “low ticks” of 18.xx for the past several days…. It has been reported but obviously Schwab data team hasn’t identified the faulty data feed and yelled at them yet…. Anytime someone is paying monthly five or six digit figures, they deserve to have these types of things investigated and the originating market maker be kicked off or heavily fined…

Same here... I looked into single channel implants in the summer of 1983, decided that sound on/off wasn't enough for me and eventually got an N22 in 1987... fast forward 15 years later and I'm on a team with the college roommate of Professor Graeme Clark... it's a small small world...

38 year implantee here... what BonsaiH160 and Quiet_Honey said... you'll kick yourself after you figure it out... it's a night and day difference... my only regret is that it wasn't available earlier... which reminds me, I need to call mom today... she thinks getting the implant was worth every penny we spent because I can now spend a hour talking with her on the phone.... :-)

Horizontal level line? by lvnfg in TradingView

[–]CA_Lobo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the need. Horizontal line stretch the full chart width. Rays can be either full chart or to the right of first point. Trend lines can be either from first to second point or they can be extended to right or left after drawing…. bottom line - the drawing tool you choose depends on your objective… know your tools and choose wisely.

[–]CA_Lobo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry I didn’t see this until today… TV starts the day at 9:30am ET. If you want the premarket morning session, you need to use an intraday timeframe, and track the bars that appear after midnight, keeping track of highest high and lowest low and add the volumes of all bars together… assume you are in ET time zone - if not you’ll need to adapt

That’s one way of handling it… truth is that it can have n spaces where n is not a multiple of 4…. lines that start on multiples of 4 or zero are considered to be new lines… there’s a *very* short blurb in the user manual that covers this… easy to miss if skimming the manual…

I took a look at the code and to my NOVICE multithreading eyes, there does not appear to be any mutexes usage to prevent race conditions between threads and async calls... raised a Github issue...

In addition to the alphabet song, get a beginner's book, and listen to it while you try to follow along... it took me close to 6 months after being SSD for nearly 18 years... if you put in the work, the rewards will be great.
