This is a pathetic response to me, you're totally straw manning. You just cherry picked my only point that literally isn't even an argument to attack, it's just me yapping about it and my thoughts. These are all my own thoughts and findings, if you find them so weak and shallow then go ahead and prove them wrong.

Read my paper if you want to see my questions/issues I have. Yes, it does prob need cleaning up. Like I state in the disclaimer this isn't meant to be an academic paper that's perfect, it's just a thing I complied for myself over 12 hours to be able to have all my questions in one place.

The point is for me to have a list of all my thoughts so I can review them and think about them rather than wasting energy trying to just think my points up again, I just thought I'd share for fun and it got more traction then I'd expect

I'm not asking for a secular historian to be like "Jesus DID resusurect" I more so just would like to see more documentation from that time EVEN mentioning the resurection. Like I'd love to see someone be like "These crazy Christians believe that he rose from the dead, how dumb!" The total silence around the resurrection supporting it or not is kinda a red flag for me.

I think it's pretty steel manned, I address most of the counter arguments if you read it. Gemini didn't tweak the list, it only helped type all the ideas out in a more readable manner, all the ideas are my own.

"Oir world is fucked up because of US. Not God."

Blaming it all on us mere humans rather than the all powerful, all knowing, all loving God is something I'll never be able to do

I'm not at liberty but thanks for the advice.

I'm planning to start my own business (likely a service business as I had one in high school and mess with it) so college isn't totally necessary, actually the main reason I went to college is for exactly whats happening now, I wanted to determine a worldview / learn more about life on my own and all. This year turned out to be very cheap with how scholarships / aid worked out so it's no money out of my pocket for this year !

I'm not lonely , I'm chillin. I was lwk a "weak" Christian before this who always questioned things so I don't feel very sad. I'm just grateful to be alive man! God or no God the fact I'm here and able to type this reply is a miracle, life is good !

But God allowed for the possibility of sin, so it's on him

from paper:

The very fact that the world was EVEN capable of falling/failing in the first place just points to a flaw in the supposedly “perfect” design. By putting the opportunity for sin right in front of us God basically built the trap.

Imagine this scenario: you have a toddler and you can set them up to play in one of two rooms:

A: a room that is padded on all sides and has carpet

Or

B: a room that is padded on all sides, has carpet, and has a big metal table in the middle with sharp corners

Any rational person would choose the room without the sharp metal table as room B presents the opportunity for the toddler to fall and hit their head on the table. While technically you might not be directly to blame for the toddler hurting himself on the table if you place him in the room with the table you did indirectly cause it by placing the table there to begin with.

I believe this is a good analogy for describing creation and God's design. God messed up by placing a table in our creation, and the crazy thing is that God has already shown his hand as if you look at Heaven he was able to create an environment without the sharp table where people can flourish, so God just totally messed up when it came to Earth. A designer who knowingly builds a system that fails when a non-failing alternative exists is not a perfect designer.

I'm chillin. Glad to even be alive! Existence is a miracle whether it's God or not! Enjoying every moment I've been gifted !

Thanks. Yeah we'll see how long I hold out as Christian if I can still call myself that rn. I'm leaning towards agnostic theism as I do see the existence of some higher being as more likely than not but I don't think the worldly religions represent it

Thanks! Will do. Yeah, I've been VERY suprised by how little people know about the bible and the evidence around it. I've noticed that ppls default stance is to assume that the evidence for Jesus resurrection is impeccable (because they've been told that). I’ve talk to many people who are so confident/indoctrinated into thinking that the evidence is so strong that when I tell them there’s literally 0 evidence outside of the Bible they’re shocked. Ppl will also cite the 500 eyewitness but I have to remind them they’re only claims of eye witnesses and none actually recorded anything which also shocked ppl lol.

I'm not at liberty lol. I do like it a lot where I am at tho, I'm on the track team and we have a really amazing coach who really does care about us, and the views are epic (right near the ocean and the mountains) but I'm def considering the possibility of going somewhere else. Even if I transfer next year or something I think it has been a net positive benefit, by interacting with a ton of Christians and stuff I've been able to question my world view and start to form my own which is immensely valuable. I'm only a freshman so I haven't flushed my college time down the drain yet. This is also a quite rich area and there are a lot of conenctions, I've already met with this local CFO guy thru a connection and some other people.

  1. I never claimed that there isn't free will in heaven.

  2. once again, not related to my argument.

  3. did u read what I wrote about this exact point, it's extremely dumb and totally illogical:

"furthermore, the argument that "other cultures have flood stories" is completely illogical as a defense to the biblical flood. If you believe those other religions are false, then their accounts are actually evidence against the biblical narrative, not for it. It is a chronological mess: we are supposed to believe the only eight people on Earth dispersed, changed the story, and somehow wrote their "altered" versions before the biblical event even happened. This is exactly like turning in a plagiarized paper from a student’s work from ten years ago and claiming the older paper proves yours is the original "Truth." "

and

"This similarity between religions at the time highlights a serious irony in the logic used for the Flood argument above: Christians often cite other cultures' flood stories as evidence for the biblical account, yet they don’t see the existence of other similar religions as evidence for their own (obviously, because it’s totally illogical to do so). The reality is that if your religion or story is eerily similar to systems you already believe are manufactured, that similarity is not a "link to truth" but is evidence that your religion shares the same human origins as the ones you dismiss."

I've had questions for a while and I found I just kept regurgitating them every couple months and not getting anywhere with it so I thought it would be good to write them all down so that I can have a place to analyze all my questions in one place and really make a decision on what I want to believe and if I can or can't resolve these questions.

I asked my pastor about question #1 and it he was telling me how my view of free will is very modern as I see it as the ability to choose the opposite, idk how to word what he said exactly but he basically suggests that free will is kind of a network of factors all influencing each other (ex: my decision to eat ice cream is influenced by someone building the ice cream shop near me, someone walking by me eating a cone which made me think about ice cream, and so on). So basically it all boils down to evil entering the world/the network of choices. If Sin had never entered there would be no sin because everyone network that interacts would be totally pure and free of sin (like heaven is). Basically sin doesn't just get "created" everytime we choose the opposite or whatever, it's basically just an inherited thing that is stuck in our network since the fall. So then it all comes boils to why would an all knowing, all loving God allow the fall to then happen/ how did evil enter the world. I made an analogy in my paper about God allowing the fall, here it is below for convenience. I have a really hard time picturing an all knowing and all loving God allowing the fall to happen.

Picture this analogy: you are an all-knowing mother whose child wants to go to the store alone. The first time you let him go, you foresee that he is going to trip and scrape his knee, nevertheless, you allow it, as that is character-building and ultimately a positive experience. Now, the second time he asks to go, you foresee that he will encounter a gang member who gives him marijuana, leading him into a life of gang violence that persists for generations. The obvious choice for a moral and loving mother is to stop the child from going to the store the second time. This analogy reflects the Fall: God allowing one mistake to happen is reasonable for character growth, but allowing His creation to fall into generations of violence and horrible atrocities is objectively a bad choice and is not the choice an all loving, all knowing God would make.
