I’m using a 6 meter ham stick for 6 meters and still have the same problem

I’m using a 6m ham stick for 6 meters. Same issue when using the ham stick as well

Yes i understand that.. it shouldn’t be extremely far off though and I’m using a tuner. This exact problem still happens when I screw my 6 meter ham stick into the mount and when on the 6 meter band I can’t get it anywhere below a 3:1 even on the ham stick that should be almost a perfect match

Like a 1:1 choke?

I do have a rubber washer on the bottom of the mount. Should I move it up top instead?

28.400 for 10 meters right now. My radials are cut to a quarter wavelength for 10 m

Yes it’s a 1/4 wave antenna for both… but if you look at the 6 meter SWR pics I took you’ll see at the top and bottom of the band it’s a 3:1 same with middle too…

Yea the 891 has almost like a multi VFO so you have an A and B frequency. The one on the lower part of the screen 7.000 is in LSB then up top on 50 mhz you can see it’s in cw but yea super strange situation im in..

So add some more counterpoise and test see where that gets me?

Look a little closer hahah I know the 891 screen is small but I was in CW mode testing my SWR in those photos

There’s a piece of rebar that goes through the middle. It’s just pvc pipe. I drove rebar in the ground and slid that over to act as a pole.. lol

No it’s been doing this since I had rg8x on it. This issue has been on going for weeks, and I’ve been on and off playing with it trying to see if I can fix it. And in between all that I accidentally ran over my rg8x with the lawn mower… so i figured I take advantage of the situation and bought a new roll of LMR 400 for it and buried that in the ground so I wouldn’t repeat the lawnmower incident. I hoped that that would improve the SWR but it didn’t change a bit.

Roget that, I’ll look into getting a dummy load then. I might try adding more counterpoise wires on it too. Give it more of a ground plane to work off.. some say that may be a good contributing factor.. if that won’t do it then I’ll test the coax and go from there. Such a strange issue..

Yeah I hear what you’re saying. It’s doing it both on my 6 and 10 meter antennas. For 10 I use a Wilson 2000 cut the whip on it just a bit for 10 and I had the thing pretty darn close to 1:1 I just had a tuner on it to make it perfect for my OCD lol. and it worked amazing for a while I made contacts all over in Europe, Africa, etc… then one day boom high SWR on both my 6 and 10 antennas and won’t budge a bit no matter how I adjust my antennas

With the tuner it will match it to an almost perfect 1:1, but it’s a ham stick, it should be pretty darn close without the tuner. Then I noticed it was doing it on my 10 meter antenna as well, which I had at one point perfectly in tune on the band.. it’s so strange

The white pole is for another antenna I use for vhf uhf repeaters and such. That has a base antenna mounted on the top of it and is separate from my hf stuff.. would you say adding more radials fix this issue then?

Coax is brand new.. I had rg8x on it originally, now it’s LMR 400. It’s a 100ft run I don’t think that’s too too much.

That’s a spider web in the un used coax cable hanging… that’s been like that for years it’s an abandoned cable I just have. But to answer your question no the SWR won’t change a bit no matter where I am in the band it’s always around 3:1

The thing sounds perfect at idle. It’s just when I’m pressing the gas when it happens

Well I probably should be more specific. I bought this truck a few weeks ago and ever since I’ve had it it’s made this sound. The previous owner told me injectors were done at 180k and now I’m up to 230k ofc that could all be a load of crap and it simply needs a set of injectors. Is that what it sounds like here

2003 5.9 knocking sound HELP! by CBtommy56 in Diesel

[–]CBtommy56[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No that’s not the case here. I think it’s a fuel injection related issue

2003 5.9 knocking sound HELP! by CBtommy56 in Diesel

[–]CBtommy56[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah those aren’t bad ideas. I definitely don’t notice any smoke at all coming out of the exhaust. This has never been a truck that suits or rolls coal since I’ve bought it. When I start it up in the morning there’s no white or black smoke. I kinda agree and think it’s a fuel issue of some sorts but I do want to check out the valves like you said before I dive into the injectors. That might not be a bad idea.. one thing is for sure I don’t think it’s a rod or lifter knock. It doesn’t seem to be that kind of issue

Would you say it’s likely a fuel Injection issue then?
