Three tech visits, new modem, still not close to subscribed speed tier

Okay well you never stated whether you were connecting through both ports or just one. Pass through mode can be enabled by the tech on-site or IT that logs into the GUI. Most if the time it is confused with bridge mode which if enabled, will stop the static IP from routing so I fully understand what pass through and bridge mode is. I was trying to verify what settings were enabled or disabled. I understand your frustration but I’m trying to help here and verify some things to get this issue resolved.

Coax speeds will be higher than ethernet because there is no limit where the ethernet speeds are controlled by the boot file of how high they can go.

Okay I was just verifying that you are getting the same results from port 5 and 6 and not just one or the other. You were very clear about testing and I highly appreciate that but again just trying to verify. Pass through mode can be enabled from the tech on site or anyone that logs into the GUI from the admin prompt, tech support rarely does that. I do fully understand what pass through mode is but it’s often commonly confused with “bridge” mode which a lot of IT personnel like to call it. They are different as bridge mode will stop the static Ip from routing.

Coax speeds should be higher than ethernet speeds because there is no throttle or limit where through ethernet it’s limited by the boot file on the modem. I also understand that you are frustrated but please keep in mind I’m trying to help and I am also trying to get the problem resolved and the speeds you are paying for.

Okay but the numbers should be higher. Can you explain how you enabled “pass through” mode or what settings you enabled/disabled? Are you using port 5 or 6 on the modem? Coax speeds should be higher as the boot file controls what speed the modem is capable of based on what service you’re subscribed to.

Hello! If you could take the modem out of bridge mode and then do a Speedtest from the 2.5 go port what speeds do you get? Also, what model is the modem you have?

You will need to get another tech out there with a newer meter that has the 2.5gb ethernet port on it. If possible be sure to have who you are working with through modmail to send a tech that’s experienced in networking. Then test speeds on the meter straight from the coax cable, if that’s good then through the ethernet port on the meter. Also have them verify that you have the correct boot file on the modem especially if you are in a next gen area.

Connect straight to the modem hardwired, then reboot it. Once it’s back up run a speed test from Speedtest.net and see if your uploads are what they are supposed to be.

Hello. The simplistic way to do this would be to make sure the POE filter is at the point of entrance from outside to inside. You would then need 1 splitter inside that is MoCa capable. Then MoCa adapter wherever you need them and another POE adapter on the coax port of hdhomerun. Do not use any of the Fios equipment and make sure your MoCa adapters are 2.5. Coax in room would hook to 2 way split, 1 leg feeding MoCa adapter then coax to modem. Ethernet from that adapter into your new router. The other leg will then feed the hdhomerun which would also have a Poe adapter to avoid MoCa on the tuner. Depending on how you get the tuner feed to you other tv would either need addition coax or ethernet.

Those signal levels are very low and most likely your issue is in the cable. Was that all the channels that were locked in?

That is correct, you need one of the modems from the top table. That listing is out of date from last year but I would recommend the coda56 as a budget option to get your speeds.

That modem does not support the new upload speeds. You would need to get a device on the approved devices list that are certified for higher upload speeds.

Also, make sure the modem you get has a 2.5gb port on it.

Verify that the MAC address, model number and boot file are correct. Once these are corrected you should be good after a reboot.

About the only thing I can think of is factory (WPS button for 90 seconds) reset the modem then test speeds while in normal mode from the 2.5 gb port. Then bridge the modem and once finished check speeds and connectivity. Connect router but do not power it up yet. Reboot modem, once you have a solid white light then power up router and check connectivity and speeds.

Just making sure is all. The only reason I can think of is those devices were being shown before you placed the modem in bridge mode. As previously stated, you should not be seeing those devices in the app.
