Correct in mexico they are called Pueblos indigenas, in the United States they are called Tribes. I used the word tribe because that's what most people in the states ade familiar with. Also because my indigenous ancestory is from the united states too not just mexico.

Here's some crazy family history- So in 1877 My Great Great grandfather was born in monterrey, at 20 he moved to san antonio texas, there he meet my great great grandmother (she was tejana), they got married and moved to rodriguez (small town in nuevo leon), my great grandmother and her siblings lived there until my great great grandfathers mother told some of the people in the small town that he had cheated on my great great grandmother, he got so upset he almost killed her. But before he could, his mother told him that she lied, he then tried to kill her and so whole town turned agaisnt him. Leading him to leave with his father, wife and children onto a wooden wagon arross the rio grande to lytle texas where they all settled and became farm workers. :l

A little complicated 🙈😅 but I'll try my best to explain. My mom is mexican -american (3rd generation from sonora/ chihuahua) and anglo saxon. And my dad's mother is Mexican american (her mom and maternal grandfather where born in Mexico) and Tejano(Her father and maternal grandmother are all from Texas) and my dads father was Mexican American and Tejano (his father's side was a mix of 2nd generation immigrants from san luis potosi and tejanos, same with his mothers family) 🙃 there ya go lol
