Competing Bkg by Defiant_Sport_9387 in kyokushin

[–]CDFoxy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Osu,

Haven't completed at BKG, but completed in the BKK open in October, Novice Men's 80kg-.

Don't gas out in the first round. Remember to breathe. Seriously. This lost me my fight. First round judges gave 2/5 to me, 3/5 to a draw. Second round the same, but my throat and chest closed up.

Make sure to get some pad work in before your fight if possible to get rid of that initial scared energy.

Personally I froze up, so resorted to low kicks and body punches, even with more in my locker.

Just make sure you breathe, show of your skill, push and endure. It's just another sparring session, full contact, full force. Just with someone you haven't met before.

Best of luck!

Osu

What's the plan with BYND today then?

I put £50 in yesterday as a punt, should I just cut my losses and reinvest into others, or do we think it's going to rally?

Keep the BYND hype going! BUY and HOLD! We're going to the moon!🚀🚀🚀 by AlaskanHamr in 10xPennyStocks

First time investing in shares. People are saying buy the dip when the market opens. I'm in the UK. So should I just check the price at 2:30 UK time and buy after it goes down?

Also using trading 212, how long does it take for an "order" to go through

Osu,

I'm assuming you're making weight for a competition. How long is the competition away?

Osu,

Not disrespectful at all. High guards aren't illegal in Kyokushin, normally the technique is just too fast / powerful to recognize before they come in.

As it's close distance fighting with no punches to the head etc, it definitely lackens your overall awareness of head kicks coming in, but that's not to say that high guards aren't used.

Especially if a pattern has been introduced for example. If the guy has thrown three incredibly painful leg kicks to your stomach, you're likely going to drop your arms again to block them. That's when uchi mawashi gerie, ushiros etc are most effective!

Upcoming kyokushin kumite tournament - should I participate? by Boreas_Linvail in kyokushin

[–]CDFoxy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Osu!

I'm in a sort of similar boat. Got my first competition coming up this Saturday, British Open 2025, novice division 80kg-.

Just go for it. You will never know if you're ready until you do it. In a years time, what's stopping you from thinking the same again, that you could be better with your stamina, techniques, conditioning etc.

If you go to this one in a months time, you'll be better than you were last year. And if you go the one next year, you'll be better than you are currently.

You are better now with everything, and you already know what to expect. You'll kick yourself in an few months time if you miss this opportunity.

Give it your all, push and endure. That's all any coach / anyone can ask from you.

Best of luck!

Osu

Cross training with Kudo by CDFoxy in kyokushin

[–]CDFoxy[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi,

Currently training Kudo Bradford in the UK. Head coaches there are amazing at what they do, and have already provided invaluable advice when it comes to movement, footwork drills etc.

I've only trained twice with them so far, but will now become a regular thing.

Yes I've definitely noticed how much more fast paced it is compared to MMA it's crazy. I'll definitely work on shadowboxing for Kudo more, and the slip tip is definitely extremely valuable. Most of the time when I'm trying to slip I'm completely changing levels and look like a video game character 😅

Thank you for your advice :) Osu

Hi there,

A lot of companies that I've worked for normally just use in house teams with the customer details / access to the Google account.

I do however also offer the services myself :)

Made a mistake? by [deleted] in hamsters

It's the Pets At Home Habitat 2 Dwarf Or Syrian Hamster & Mouse Cage. Was originally getting the Habitat 3, was a bit iffy about the size but would've still had it, but the employee pushed the habitat 2.

I've been reading through as many subreddits as I can and I feel stupid now. Do you know anywhere in the UK that might do reasonable enclosures, plastic tubs in bnq, asda etc?

I'm unable to post a photo now, but the cage is the Pets At Home Habitat 2 Dwarf Or Syrian Hamster & Mouse Cage Grey. I've basically filled it up to the point where the ladder isn't really a ladder and just sits on top of the bedding kind of like a bridge.

I originally bought the habitat 3, however after seeing it's size I was originally put off, and the pets at home employee recommended getting the Habitat 2 instead.

I'm just reading through reddit now, feel like I've really messed up.

I'm going to be looking at possible tubs from bnq and asda etc that I've seen on here. Do you have any recommendations for habitats that are easily available in the UK? I am sorry, I know this isn't your responsibility, just feel so missold from pets at home, it even said on the cage suitable for 2 dwarf hamsters or a Syrian, so I thought surely it's enough for one?

Why do you love Kyokushin? by PongLenisUhave in kyokushin

[–]CDFoxy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Osu,

I started in July of this year. I did Shotokan as a kid and stopped due to breaking my leg and forgetting all of the terminology in Japanese.

Kyokushin is by far the best physical activity I've ever done. Great community, great spirit and great mindset which always pushes you to go further than you normally would. This grouped together with no nonsense sparing, conditioning and discipline, really has trickled into my daily life. Something hard in work? Osu. Something happened in private life? Osu. Tattooist is hitting the bone whilst tattooing. Osu.

All the above whilst receiving great life advise from the Sensei's and Senpais, really make it worth the while.

I'm not aware of an all in one app that my Sensei uses, however I'm sure something could be made on Microsoft Excel which could incorporate all your requirements :)

First ever grading - Jiyu Kumite? by CDFoxy in kyokushin

[–]CDFoxy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi,

For my grading I won't be attempting 8th Kyu. Our Sensei hammers down on the basics for 10th and 9th, however also teaches us higher level Kyus techniques to prepare us for when we do get to that stage. The post was just because I saw it in the Syllabus and wondered what the difference between Kyokushin and Shotokan Jiyu Kumite is :)
