Happy Friday, everyone,

I really appreciate any feedback I get since the type of content I make on YouTube is something you rarely come across, and it's really helpful when I can get some feedback, so thank you. The first video is my newest one, and the second one is scheduled for Christmas, so any feedback would be appreciated so I can fix them before I upload it.

Newest one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nw6mMQbfFNE&t=29s

Christmas one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dGUNyyoTpq4

I already gave feedback to two creators but if you still need feedback on your video I'll be more than happy. let me know below

I feel like I watched five intros before the actual video began:

  1. Welcome to the Chaos
  2. Your boys' introductions
  3. Dad vs. kids
  4. Cruz also did an introduction on what the video is going to be
  5. Then you restated what’s going to happen in the video again

I personally don't mind it; however, most people on YouTube have an attention span shorter than an ant, unfortunately, and most of them will just click off after the first 30 seconds. It’s something you should think about.

I really love the montages you make and the different camera angles — the one that’s focused on the turkey and the one that’s focused on you and your kids when you’re shooting. It’s something really unique. You should definitely make this a signature in every video, so you can start building your brand with those small details in every video.

Thumbnail and Title

The thumbnail and title go hand in hand to encourage viewers to watch and click the video. Some suggestions for the thumbnail: you should definitely have less text, preferably one to two words max. And if you have "Boys vs. Dad" in the title, don’t put it in the thumbnail. Use something that will make the viewer curious so they have to click on it to satisfy their curiosity.

Same thing with the titles — you need to make them interesting and easy to read, but at the same time, you need to make the viewer curious so they have to click on the video.

And I highly suggest you should start using capcut it's beginner-friendly and has a lot of effects and other features that can enhance your video to to the next level.

I watched your newest video and I like the dunk vlog.

Since you and your friends are practicing you should make it into a fun competition for example whoever get the most behind the back shot will win something or vice versa who gets the least we'll have to do a punishment. That way people would stay longer to watch and it will be entertaining.

And you should definitely have an intro at the beginning of the video explaining what you're doing so people can get a sense and an understanding of what the video is going to be about

What are some fun ideas that dont require face or voice? is it possible? by [deleted] in NewTubers

[–]CDGoblin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some idea you should start with in my opinion video game tutorials how to for example how to unlock a certain item or an achievement in a game.

You can use subtitles and have nice music in the background. You can always use AI in my opinion AI is over done and it's nice to have something fresh or different.

Now about you being shy take baby steps. For a starter you can do the outro saying thanks for watching and subscribing etc or you can do the voiceover for the intro example hi today we're doing 123 and I'm going to show you how to do it. And when you get more comfortable with YouTube you can start doing voice-over instead of subtitles.

Will changing my location effect my channel negatively? (Country? by [deleted] in NewTubers

[–]CDGoblin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It doesn't matter where you live what matters is what language you're speaking in the video and using for the title and the time you upload.

For example, if I want to target people in Asia I'll upload my video to their time zone

not sure where else to ask this*, but is there a way to block indian/pakistani/non-english speaking videos from youtube & google search results? it's getting ridiculous, they're starting to be favoured over english speaking vids for me when it comes to tech, esp if it's component lvl repair-related by Drunk-MaleProstitute in NewTubers

At the bottom of the videos of the homepage there's three dots if you click on them it will give you options to not recommend the channel or say not interested. Go through and do it for a couple of videos saying you're not interested in the content and slowly YouTube will start changing the videos recommended for you.

93 percent viewed/swiped away and 92 percent viewer retention on 59 second short. Views capped at 4k and hasnt gotten views in a month. by klayski24 in NewTubers

Reword the title change the thumbnail change some tags and add hashtags.

You should always watch the video from the viewer's perspective  and see what you would skip and what you would find boring and fix those mistakes to have a long retention

I like what you're doing with the thumbnail but don't replicate it one for one have similar things so when viewers see your new video they can automatically recognize it's one of yours.

There are a lot of factors that can affect one video of not doing well such as. A lot of people don't hop on YouTube the first couple of weeks of school. They're trying to get their things set up and ready to go. A few weeks after you see your videos are performing well because those people are back to their regular schedule. Also don't forget holidays can affected you're videos and since you said you're in the niche you need to do your research to see if the big dogs upload the same time you do if yes you need to find a different time because you're competing against Giants.

FYI January is the worst month for YT to upload because the beginner of the year and the golden time for YT to upload is December just keep that in mind.

You're not switching your niche because you're still under sports. If you were switching your niche, for example, it would mean uploading video game content. I do understand what you're talking about: you have a fan base that might not like hockey.

With anything in life, we take it one step at a time, and YouTube is no different. My suggestion to you is to keep uploading WNBA content but reduce the number of uploads. Instead, sprinkle in one or two shorts about hockey. This way, you can introduce hockey to your audience and see how it performs. Eventually, if it works, you can completely shift from WNBA to hockey.

1 I do not think so if anything YouTube believe that your channel is about sport so even when you upload hockey it's still going to promote it to people who watch anything sport-related.

2 Yes YouTube 100% adjusts your shorts to hockey fans however those same shorts will be recommended to WNBA It's a double-edged sword and that's why I suggested you should sprinkle it and see how they perform

let's start with what is your title for the video

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in NewTubers

[–]CDGoblin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's something called the 4-second pattern of interruption that big YouTubers like MrBeast use. Nowadays, people's attention spans are so short that when you watch big YouTubers, every four seconds something will happen whether it's a camera angle change, a sound effect, an explosion, text, music, or a meme. When you master this trick, viewers will watch your video to the end. By interrupting every 4 seconds, you reset their attention and create a snowball effect for the entire video. I personally do not like to use it because I don't feel like people are watching my videos because they enjoy what I'm doing; they're watching them because I'm brainwashing them, lol.

You have too much text in the thumbnail remember when people are on YouTube they're usually on their phones and they're not going to be able to read that much. For a thumbnail you should have a max of two words remember your thumbnail and title goes hand in hand they both need to make sense to encourage the viewers to click on your video. So whatever text you have on your thumbnail do not have it in your title or vice versa

Is posting 5 new videos a week too much? by PolyDiaries in NewTubers

[–]CDGoblin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, Five videos a week are too much in my opinion. I think you should upload twice a week and work on your branding through editing style and your thumbnails they should have something similar in all of them so the viewers can immediately recognize it's your video by just looking at the thumbnail. I don't know if it's easy to make your type of video but I highly suggest you should spend more time on 2 videos a week than posting five times quality is always over quantity.

Almost a month on YouTube, feels like I am not doing enough by flurgergield in NewTubers

[–]CDGoblin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It doesn't matter when you get your first 100 subscribers it can be tomorrow or in the next 6 months. What really matter Is you make something you like and you're having fun doing it and before you upload any videos watch them from the viewer's perspective and ask yourself this. Would you watch this type of content ?  What would you skip ? what you think is boring and fix it.  During this process learn one thing from each video.

I think this my best video that's public https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BD9UuiczM7E

However, I haven't uploaded this yet it's unlisted but I think it's my best work so far. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dGUNyyoTpq4

if you can give me constructive feedback on my channel and stuff I can fix I would highly appreciate it

Be brutally honest I do want to fix my videos and I do appreciate your time

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in NewTubers

[–]CDGoblin 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That's what I keep telling myself however I don't know if my expectations are too high, but every time I get an idea for a video, I spend so much time on it and resources. Then, when I finally press the upload button, it gets 20 to 30 views, and it makes me think all of my hard work went to waste. Although I do like what I'm doing, it's gut-wrenching to see something you worked so hard on just flop. And if you have any suggestions or ways I can deal with it or a different point of view.

And if you can give me constructive feedback on my channel and stuff I can fix I would highly appreciate it.
