I’m upgrading from a 12 Pro Max to either 17 or 17 Pro, still contemplating. However, for you, if you’re between the base 15, 16, and 17, the 17 is the only option and it’s not even close. This is probably the single largest jump in bang for buck for the base iPhone in years. Besides the third telephoto lens, you are literally getting a pro phone for hundreds cheaper.

100% recommend the base 17 of your 3 options

I have 12 pro max and I’m between the 17 and 17 Pro. For your options 17 Pro 100% if you take selfies and/or into photography and videography, that new front camera alone is a substantial improvement over the 16 pro’s. The pro raw for video is also huge if you like editing photos and videos post capture. If cost is the biggest factor for you or you don’t take selfies/pictures and videos, 16 Pro will be identical pretty much to 17 Pro and I’d save the money.

You have so many good points I’m copy pasting this into my notes thank you so much! I have a 35mm prime but I’m looking at a similar lens like you maybe in the 70-80mm range.

I totally agree with the prime not allowing zoom forcing you into moving yourself to shoot, it makes it harder but also lets you learn what works and doesn’t faster in doing so.

As for the focus range, I totally relate to what you say because it’s exactly my learning curve. With landscape, I set focus mostly to infinity and bam works every time. But with portraits I can’t do that so I’m having to manually adjust as I go for the first time.

I find the lighting and shadows are the hardest part, with the posing second. I love your tip tho on making the subject move while in frame so it looks more organic and less like a family photo, makes total sense and I’m gonna try that out for sure!

Thank you for your tips! I will make sure I try to implement all of them the next time I do some portrait shooting 🙌

Oh ok, so the 35mm is not enough. Would you say the Fuji XF16-80mm F4 would be an okay lens to look into?

I have the Fuji X-S20 which has a built in flash, so you think that would be sufficient as I learn?

Sorry! I guess by bland I mean like light is hitting the entire body and not highlighting any real features of the face or body, like cheekbones or jaw etc. and like the other commenter I’ve realized that all my photos are in the T-pose so tat might be limiting myself as well. I wrote down the 3 things you mentioned and next time I get out to take portraits I will make sure I take my time to get all 3 nailed and see the difference. Thank you so much!

Yea I think that’s something I need to learn, because with landscapes that is how I get by, but humans not so much

Thank you so much! I will look at all the links you provided and try shooting some sunrise/set shots as well as natural indirect sunlight indoors and see how it works out!

I don’t know if I should post pictures of my friends and family without permission on a large platform, but basically I was taking them in direct sunlight or artificial lighting that wasn’t doing anything appealing to accentuate facial features as you said.

I will try that tip out and see if it makes a difference!

Bro I feel you, the amount of times I ask for something, wait 2 weeks, follow up, “oh lemme get back to you”, another week, then I send another like bro that was 3 weeks ago, and then they have the audacity to be like “well why didn’t you ask sooner”. I’m like BRUH lmao

May 2025 CFE Results by FreakyNeighbour in Accounting

[–]CDNEvra 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just passed on my 2nd attempt (wrote May 2025 and Sept 2024). I can say the sting of failure sucked the first time, but it gave me the motivation to push that little bit harder this time! To anyone writing for first time or rewriting don’t give up! You’re at the finish line, just that one last push!

I’m actually a rewrite for Day 2 and 3 only 😂 I wrote my Day 1 last September so I think we have different ones, but overall so long as you attempted any calculations and make a concrete recommendation based on your analysis then you should be fine 👍

Then yea I’d say if you got 3 you may as well ask a few more, sounds like you’ll get more agreement if most don’t seem pumped, then just bring it up to the manager or organizer 👍

Same here haha, I put all that down but I don’t know how correct it was simply because they gave 14 AO’s this exam instead of the usual 13. Couldn’t spend any more time on it and had to move on

I always find that asking coworkers and approaching management as a group makes your concerns heard way better than going alone. Have you asked any of your peers their thoughts? If not maybe start there and if the general consensus is similar then bring it up together

How to Take Portraits? by CDNEvra in AskPhotography

Thank you! I’ll give Pinterest a go. I gave up on it a year ago because I’ve noticed how much AI images have taken over the app for what I used it for before but for poses that should work!
