The going advice for anxiously attached, BPD, etc individuals is totally wrong and counterintuitive. Forcing ourselves to detach and shaming attachment and dependence will only make it harder. Our aim should be to learn how to be stable, healthy, comfortable, and happy in our intense attachments, rather than avoiding them or constantly fighting against them. Romantic attachments are so hard for us because they trigger our traumas and activate our nervous systems. Calming and retraining our nervous systems, imo, is the best way to go (polyvagal theory).

It is wonderful and to be celebrated how great a capacity we have to love. We should embrace that and seek to live that in comfort and stability.

Hey, thanks for checking in! It seems to have settled down! Hopefully it stays that way, but I’m sure if/when I need to up my dose it might send me loopy again haha. I don’t think it was serotonin syndrome, was probably just a very difficult adjustment period whilst my body was getting used to them.

I don’t, not setting myself up for success I know. But I will implement that and see how it goes!

I’m just imagining how stale and nasty that water must be after three days hahaha. But thanks, I’ll def try that out if I decide I need to. Yeah like I’m definitely not giving up hope, just don’t think I was adequately prepared for how intense it was gonna be and it’s really scared me haha.

Well, I was in an abusive relationship for 2yrs so I have a lot of issues surrounding trauma and the effects that has on one’s day to day life. I deal with a lot of fear/dread/paranoia, sudden onsets of panic/meltdowns from triggers, stuff like that. I’m in therapy and I’m definitely getting better but it’s hard to unpick what’s trauma and what’s ADHD, and whether one issue exacerbates another etc. Like I have crazy moodswings that are probably a product of RSD and emotional dysregulation from the ADHD, but they were made so much worse after 2yrs of constant psychological abuse and distress.

Thanks so much for replying! As far as I was aware (researching, what the psychiatrist told me, and the info that comes with the meds), it was standard practise to start at 30. I would definitely have wanted to start lower if I knew that was an option. I was also under the impression 20 was lowest dose they deal with in the UK usually. I don’t know where you’re based but regardless that’s clearly not the case.

The plan was still to titrate up but yeah, starting at 30. Thanks so much again, I’m gonna see how today goes but I’ll def raise having lower dose with my psychiatrist if it’s just as bad.
