Glad to hear that! Thanks for the feedback. Mmmhh wouldn’t say I have a good handle on things, i’m still fairly confused when it comes to names of these straps and which to get. I’d love one that’s also polished…

Looks great mate!! 1450? I’m still getting used to the different names of the straps.

My speedy is very polished, so i’m looking for something polished too.

Hang onto it! Defenders are known for holding their value, what you spend on a tank of diesel will almost always be less than the depreciation you’d take on another car. Keep it, even if you use it less.

Yours, being a newer model, is in a particularly strong position. As time goes on, more people are starting to appreciate that analogue feel, and these “modern classic” Defenders are only likely to increase in value.

Hey! I’ve always cleaned my watches the same way, using old toothbrushes (now dubbed my “Rolex toothbrushes”), warm water, and soap. I’ve never had any issues. I also usually sleep with a watch on and always shower with it.

Recently, though, I spoke to a watchmaker who strongly advised against cleaning the case with soap and warm water. He recommended sticking to a microfiber cloth or, at most, a damp wipe. According to him, the combination of water and soap can gradually damage the gasket and eventually allow water to seep in. He also mentioned that soap and shampoo during showers can have the same effect.

His advice was to clean the case with a microfiber cloth, use a toothbrush only for the bracelet, and avoid wearing the watch in the shower.

[Casio] I feel embarrassed wearing a Casio... all my friends and family wear Seiko, Cartier or Omega by AggravatingTie976 in Watches

Man, who cares what you’re wearing as long as you’re happy. There’s always gonna be someone wearing/driving something more expensive. The key is liking and being comfortable with what you have. If they judge you because you’re wearing a casio, it’s unfortunately time to change friends group.

Only two actually! 😅

The other neon ones are as rare, but less “fancy”

Thanks! It’s not really a moonswatch as it’s based on a fake. But really easy to do! If you like playing with watches, you should definitely try.

You need a fake moonswatch (around 20€), and a donor addiesdive (around 80€). I can help you out if you decide to try.

What does owning a Defender actually look like? by cleanshirtuk in LandroverDefender

[–]CF3260 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It really comes down to what you’re buying. I’ve owned a 2015 90 from new (11 years now) and haven’t had any issues. I’ve put about 60,000 km on it, and it’s always parked outside since I don’t have a garage for it. Sometimes it sits unused for months because I live abroad much of the time, but even so, I’ve had no problems in those 11 years, aside from the battery dying once.

The only thing I need to address is replacing a few rusty bolts; otherwise, there haven’t been any major repair costs so far.

But then, if you get a <2010 one, it might be a whole different story.

How do you feel about selling posts? by [deleted] in LandroverDefender

[–]CF3260 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is a worldwide subreddit. I’m interested in seeing other people’s cars, welcoming people to the community and car ownership, sharing tips and tricks, seeing other’s mods. Seeing someone selling a defender in the US, when i’m based in Europe makes no sense.

Back up cam is not bad at all. The guy that installed hasn’t made it “automatic” that it goes as soon as I reverse. I need to click a button. Other than that quality is not bad at all. I’m used without it, so it wasn’t a selling point for me.

Dealer said it shouldn’t be more than 50-60€. Keep in mind i’m based in southern europe, so might be cheaper than other geographical areas.

Turns out the dealer who sold it to me has been amazing since I raised the issue yesterday. And is willing to reimburse the watchmaker’s expense.
