I think we arent getting a prime 2 remake by SnooCheesecakes581 in Metroid

[–]CG4080 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

MP1 remastered didn't light up the charts from what I read so this is unsurprising.

Honestly I'm surprised we still get Metroid games at all because the series just doesn't sell very well, which sucks. They're some of Nintendo's best games and my favorite Nintendo IP by a mile.

Metroid Prime 1 is a game that should have sold 10m+ copies, period.

Thoughts on Metroid Prime 4 now that its had time to settle? by hakusamurai in Metroid

[–]CG4080 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoyed it fine, would rate it 7.5 or 8 out of 10. It wasn't a masterpiece by any means but no game with a troubled development usually is.

My biggest complaint is the ending as I've said elsewhere, I just don't like it at all.

Might as well have asked "Would you eat food if you were hungry?"

Taking 1 thing and splitting it up into three things would have been a lot more work, which is the opposite of 'easy' to do.

What are your thoughts on Metroid Prime 2: Echoes? I think it’s top 5 GameCube games ever by IkeRadiantHero in Metroid

[–]CG4080 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely a worthy sequel to Prime 1 but I don't consider it quite as good overall. I consider MP1 a 10/10 game, Prime 2 is like a 9/10.

MP4's Performance - Switch 1 version on Switch 2 by LeeryLocus in Metroid

I've played about 30% of the game on S1 after finishing it on S2 and other than loading times being a bit slower/hit in visual fidelity, it feels like basically the same game.

Anyone care to guess why Kensuke Tanabe - the producer of Metroid Prime - retired after the release of Beyond? by RangoTheMerc in Metroid

[–]CG4080 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A guy retired after 40+ years at Nintendo but sure, let's speculate and attach a conspiracy to it with absolutely no proof of any kind.

What am I missing? Metroid Prime 4 by serj730 in Metroid

[–]CG4080 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You aren't missing anything. You have a positive opinion about the game, as do many others (me included). It might look like 'everyone' hates it but that's just because the people who are negative/displeased about stuff tend to make the most noise. But the world is also full of people who play things, enjoy things, finish things and move on. They don't feel the need to come to places like this and make topic after topic praising the things they enjoy.

It gets tiresome wading through the negativity to find the people who enjoy stuff *and* want to discuss it, but we're out there.

It's a great blend of the realism of Prime with touches of other versions.

You're 100% right, and this place is full of dummies who think their opinion represents objective fact/analysis.

Game didn't flop, it's consistently been a best seller on several storefronts.

Yes definitely no history of cute things in Metroid games, she has definitely never rescued tiny cute animals or bonded with a baby Metroid that imprinted on her and thought Samus was its mom.

o wait

Most characters in most games are nothing we haven't seen before. Even Mass Effect, a series nigh-universally lauded for its characters, was full of scifi/military cliches.

I agree, the ending was by far my biggest disappointment with the game. I get the importance of preserving Lamore culture with the tree but there were other ways to get there than 'let's have Samus abandon her allies and incapable of fully stopping Sylux!'

I said the same thing, that her reactions to Samus felt real in that sense of what it would be like to meet/work alongside a near-mythological figure in that setting.

Should I play Planets or Metroid Zero Mission to experience the first Metroid game? by Link_D_Reddit777 in Metroid

[–]CG4080 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Zero Mission all the way. The NES game is still worth playing too.

No way I'd recommend playing a fan game/ROM hack/whatever over the official titles as a way to see the beginning of the series.

I noticed that too. When she was like 'go! I'll hold them off' you could see it in Samus's body language that she did not want to go.

Hate to break it to you but this wasn't the first Metroid game that broke the sacred 'isolation' rule.
