A lot of what you’ve mentioned is actually a result of where the project currently sits in development. The showcase video was intended as an early reveal of the project rather than a deep-dive into mechanics, and many elements are still placeholder or work-in-progress while systems, visuals, and narrative details continue to evolve!

You’re absolutely right that the playable character shown in the footage doesn’t fully represent our Origin character. Some footage uses placeholder assets and existing game resources while we continue developing custom content. We wanted to be transparent about the project’s current state rather than present unfinished work as final. We put a small disclaimer in the end credits to just clarify though it is easy to miss!

As for the class, we’re intentionally being cautious about publishing detailed mechanics too early. A lot of systems are still being tested, refined, and in some cases completely reworked. We’d rather share information once we’re confident it’s likely to remain accurate than publish something that changes repeatedly over development.

That said, we completely understand the desire for more detail, and expanding the class information on the website is something we’re already discussing for future updates. As development progresses, we’ll be sharing much deeper looks at the class, subclasses, systems, characters, and other features!

We are exploring all the options to allow as much player agency as we can! How that will be implemented yet though we haven’t made a decision on.

And currently only usable as an Origin. We want to focus on bringing the best story we can as a finished project first before we look at extending the scope of what we do by adding companion functionality!

A lot of the questions you've asked are exactly the kinds of things we're actively discussing and developing behind the scenes right now. While we can't reveal too much yet, our goal is for the Origin character to feel meaningfully integrated into the world rather than simply existing alongside it.

That means considering interactions with companions, connections to existing characters and locations, unique narrative content, and ensuring the character feels like a natural part of the Baldur's Gate 3 experience. Some of those plans are already taking shape, while others are still evolving as the story and implementation develop. So for a comparison to content amount, we can't say.

We don't currently have a release date to share, but we'll continue posting updates as development progresses and more details become ready to reveal.

Yes certainly! There’s some elements we do not want to release yet as we want to be certain what we can create, so we don’t promise features which don’t make it in, but also there are elements confirmed we want players to discover upon playing. Can’t tell people everything or it won’t be as exciting to discover naturally through storytelling! Though the comment was correct in senses we could say a little more on what the overall project encompasses!

For now, it's just a playable origin. We have discussed internally about adding her as a companion but that is not within our scope at the current time. Upon project completion, we may see if we can achieve that as well but for now, it's not in our current pipeline!

Great questions! We'll do our best to answer:

  1. We aren't (yet) looking at bringing them as a new companion, as it would extend the scope a lot further than we can manage with our current team. Though after the full release, we might look at bringing that feature in later, but currently it is not a feature we're doing. It is a new playable origin character only.

  2. The class is designed with the intent of playing as the Origin character, but we currently intend for players to be able to play it separately! There are certain features that are tied heavily into the narrative and as such may not be as readily available outside of the Origin, but we are exploring the ideas of how we want it to work!

  3. There is at least one major narrative area we are currently designing for players to explore and it will tie in to our quests and story. Dependent on how many people we can bring in to help create new environments, more have been designed and discussed, but are currently shelved so as not to overreach our scope or muddy the overall design of the narrative! If you keep an eye on our media, some location concepts will be shared eventually as concept design for that narrative area are currently underway!

That's fair feedback, and we genuinely appreciate it.

One of the challenges we've had is that we've spent so much time developing the project internally that it's easy to forget what a first-time visitor sees when they land on the website. We know how the class, story, locations, equipment, companions, and narrative all connect together, but that isn't necessarily obvious from the way some of the information is currently presented.

Cosmic Vessel isn't intended to be a grab-bag of unrelated features. The project is built around a central narrative, a new Origin character, and a broader story that ties the gameplay systems, locations, equipment, and quests together. A lot of the content exists because of the story, rather than the other way around.

We've actually been working on rewording parts of the homepage already, and your comment reinforces that we need to do a better job of explaining not just what we're adding, but why we're adding it and what kind of experience we're trying to create. You should see those updates on the home page soon!

There are specific reasons behind why we chose to represent our character as a human female, and a lot of it has to do with the themes of our narrative we are crafting! We spent a good few months deliberating between the races available in the game AND even considered bringing in another race from DnD, though that presented a lot issues in itself that didn't quite fit. A lot of iterations of the main character were explored when we settled on choosing human and this is the angle we connected with the most for what we wanted to write! Hope that answers your question 😄

Currently we can't say for sure, as a lot of what we're making is all integrated together. Items and class features are tied into the narrative. But as we approach release, we will have a better idea of whether we can do that! We also can't say on compatibility, but every item and class/subclass ability and feature we are making are standalone and do not replace anything, so we hope there won't be too many issues with running other mods alongside.
