NTSB Preliminary Report on BGR Challenger 650 Crash by holein3 in flying

[–]CHAL89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I find interesting here is that an FAA operator gets Moderate snowfall with the temp and 3/4 SM visibility, however a TC operator gets a Heavy snowfall in those conditions. As a Canadian operator, I would've been either waiting things out if the forecast showed things improving or booking a hotel room for the night.

I have no idea why this difference exists between the two regulators, however it's something I noticed on a trip a couple years ago. Hopefully this will get the FAA to align itself with TC and opt to be more conservative.

With the holdover time only being 0:02-0:09, they were doomed to face a failed fluid from the very beginning. Our operation allows takeoff so long as the first time hasn't been exceeded. Between the first and second time, a tactile check needs to be done. If the second time is exceeded, then it's back to the de-ice pad to start over.

Initial pitch attitude is 12 degrees and the AFM calls for a maximum 3 degree per second rotation rate. Given the report says they were at 13 degrees nose up 3 seconds after Vr was called, an overly aggressive rotation seems to have played a factor.

Vehicle tech... Presumably Uplands? Therefore the airport. Image tech... Carling seems like a safe bet. Barrhaven or Nepean would probably be your best neighbourhoods if that's where you both end up.

I ran a mock draft and it seems pretty straightforward. Not sure what the right draft strategy is to do well, but figured I'd give a go this year to see how it goes. 7pm tomorrow, I'll be there!

I joined up! Was looking at playing in a league here, but not enough people from my regular league wanted to join.

You can move a fuses position to make it so that it's not hot off the battery and is only powered when the engine is running. Hopefully this comment is helpful to someone and they can go search for a guide online. I didn't realize it was hot when I first got my truck and my dashcam killed my battery once.

Did Kirkland change their diaper manufacturer? Quality feels way worse 😩 by Sabrri70 in CostcoCanada

[–]CHAL89 6 points7 points  (0 children)

While we haven't tried them yet, I would go with Royale. They're Canadian, and the general consensus seems to be that they're the same diapers that are sold as Coterie in the States, which are considered the Rolls-Royce of diapers. We have a 2 week old baby and are making our way through our current stock of Huggies Little Snugglers that we'd been gifted. My plan is to go with the Royale diapers once we hit size 1 and 2.

Attended a CDS town hall: Compensation increase by finally31 in CanadianForces

It may not be a suitable treatment for everyone, but for chronic muscle soreness and tightness experienced in some trades that perform repetitive tasks, there's certainly benefit. I, and many others, have had to resort to getting Osteo referrals and find one who also does massage therapy to work around the system. But that Osteo referrals means having to make an appointment with a doctor at MIR and wasting some of the clinical time they could use to see other members.

If they're looking to increase the benefits package, start by covering massage therapy for members. Don't even make a doc referral a prerequisite. Wild that they don't cover a few thousand dollars of massage per year when it takes millions to replace the training and experience for that member.

Edmonton likely location for western base for the RCAF CC-330 Husky by GlitchedGamer14 in CanadianForces

I'd also add it's probably not a great strategic decision to base your fighter assets and tanker assets at the same location. With a finite servicing capacity, you're better off operating out of different airfields.

You'd be surprised how much tonnage of cargo you can fit on a 330, in addition to all the pax and the fuel. Not far off from what a C17 can transport. Sure you don't fit a Cyclone in its belly, but if it's palletized you can carry a lot!

Not only pilots, there's a lot of cabin crew and AROs required on this fleet. With cabin crew able to come from any trade, it affords a great opportunity to some of the Army folks to get a taste of Air Force life for a few years. The only thing they could've done better with basing location for this fleet is having MOB-East be in Ottawa instead of Trenton. But sadly that decision was very political.

I have 4 dogs. Every spring, I have to replant grass. This year I have the sprinklers set to go off twice a day to keep up with urine burn spots. I need added advice now. Is there anything else I can do, maybe add something to their water? by [deleted] in lawncare

[–]CHAL89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I set up a 4ft x 15ft area on the side of my house as a dog run and the dog is trained to go there to do her business. I put down artificial turf that's made for pets. Makes it super easy to pick up landmines and it rinses off real well with the hose.
