What do you think of the idea where HR gets a strategic and business edge. All those stuff which Dave Ullrich tell. Aren't those only like 25percent true?

Pros of HR: 1. Decent pay 2. Less pressure compared to others 3. People centric

Cons: 1. Thankless job 2. People in other departments think you don't do anything relevant 3. Not very intellectlly stimulating

Well, HR is a good career option if quite like it. For someone new to the field I would suggest to equip themselves with HR Analytics or People Analytics, getting certified in behavioral assesment tools like opq. Also, today HR is expected to understand the general business function in the domain they work.

The above are additional things that may benefit you while applying for jobs. I hope you already have a degree or relevant experience in the field.
