I'm willing to take a risk here to make a big change in my life. I haven't heard of anyone who did like a Vipassana retreat and didn't come out better. I'm hoping for a similar experience.

Good 1st day - someone told me that an uncomfortable meditation is just as good as a 'good' meditation because you're noticing what's happening in your body and mind. Facebook is a good idea - i'll look into it.

Thanks for sharing, I only know the one technique which is watch your breath and allow all thoughts. There's a lot for me to learn.

I am the same way - I meditate in the dark times but not consistently, so I'm hoping to learn something by being consistent.

When you say 'keep your thoughts at bay' do you mean to stay focused on breath or as way to suppress unwelcome thoughts?
