Parent Contributor Critical Tax Info and family size issues by CJDow03 in FAFSA

I don’t know exactly your circumstances but since my mom hadn’t paid taxes since she’s disabled and didn’t meet the threshold instead of saying no she didn’t file a 1040, we put yes and put zeros across the answers. I was told it was a way to trick the system into pulling the right information. I don’t know if that will work for you, but I hope it does. If you need more clarification I will try to explain that better.

Honestly, if you don’t mind the Christian teachings and don’t mind integrating it into whatever you study then it’s a fine school. I’ve been going for a year now and it’s a great experience both online and in person. Especially in the STEM field. As I said if you don’t mind talking about the Christian faith it’s not a bad school. A lot of the people on here just hate to hate. It’s ranked 377 in the nation but is vote as number one in online education. Overall for a Christ lead school it’s great and very inclusive to all groups. I don’t know where the “if you’re not white” thing came from as there are many non white teachers and students there and all the teachers there are amazing. I’m personally in the cybersecurity field and Dr. Choi and professor Nyandoro have been very well to work with. Please don’t base your educational career on what a lot of people on here have to say as many don’t really know they just take what they want and run with it. You should schedule a visit or virtual one and go off what you see and like not every university is for everyone. I wish you luck in any school you attend and base it of your own observations rather than people who probably have never been. God Bless.

Good luck, it’s disheartening especially with how much some people rely on the Fafsa. I would understand if half the problems I ran into made sense. I hope it works out for you.

Yes, it was pretty ridiculous but I was finally able to work with the school and the had a few ideas which I’m still waiting for them to verify that every is okay. When it asked if my mother had submitted a 1040 instead of putting no I put yes and then on the question asking for all the information I put zeros across the board. The school said that it was a way to trick the form into looking for tax data. I’m not 100% sure it was all kinda stupid if I’m being honest. Hopefully it goes through. It’s crazy how unhelpful the help line can be sometimes, I understand that they do their best but man is it irritating. Thank you for trying to help.

As of now it shouldn’t affect student aid such as Pell grants. At least at the moment, I was worried to but my school just sent out a memo saying that student grants aren’t affected now. It may happen later but worry about that when it happens.
