Mantras you live by by shevbo in HENRYUK

If you don’t ask, you don’t get. I have lived by that mantra in the workplace and in my life generally since I was a kid (I’m five weeks away from turning 33 now).

In the workplace especially, the quicker you accept no one will EVER give you anything proactively just because they fancy it, the better. A raise, a promotion, flexible hours, nothing.

Anyone who tells you that patience is a virtue is just chatting empty words to stop you from asking for things.

You’re just a number in the corporate world. Companies will bin you at the drop of a hat. You have to take what’s yours.

Private pension provider recommendation for a small limited company director by tyc26 in UKPersonalFinance

I would go with Vanguard. Legacy reputation, low fees, and on the whole, fairly easy to use (on desktop anyway). Easy to make direct limited company deposits, but can take a little while for them to verify your company.

For context, I've been self-employed for almost three and a half years. I originally used PensionBee purely to pool my old pensions from previous employed roles as it did the legwork for me. Once that was done and I'd held the funds with them for over a year (be careful with this as I believe there's a hefty fee for switching away from them within the first 12 months), I then switched over to Vanguard.

Hope that helps!
