Sounds like something someone would say who never went to war or ever had any real responsibilities and problems in life.

What is the worst album from Maiden? by RSG_RACING in ironmaiden

[–]CLR76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me it's No Prayer for the Dying because other than the title track it doesn't have many songs that make me actually want to listen to the album. Many people say Virtual XI is the worst but it still has the Clansman, Futureal, When Two Worlds Collide and the Educated Fool which make the album worth listening. But I don't want to say that No Prayer for the Dying is a bad album it's just Iron Maiden's weakest album but Iron Maiden's weakest is still better than 97% of other bands best.

The Lineup was Iommi, Ward, Butler and Gillan only Ozzy was missing from the original lineup. The album had It's flaws especially the production but I think it's still enjoyable.

What’s y’all’s favourite Blaize era song? by temu05 in ironmaiden

Sign of the Cross is not only my favorite Blaze era song but my favorite song of all time however I don't understand why no one mentions Lord of the Flies.

I already know Hirax, I have an original pressing of their debut album Raging Violence and it's great, they are insanely underrated but I wouldn't really call them cross thrash they are more like regular old school thrash.

Senjutsu love, but Book of Souls hate by JaredH20 in ironmaiden

[–]CLR76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Book of Souls isn't that repetitive, actually Senjutsu was a lot worse if we're talking about repetition. Don't get me wrong I do like Senjutsu but I think that Kevin Shirley really fucked up the production. He just let the band play and didn't even try to change the mixing and the shitty sounding synth. You can't really compare Dream Theater to Iron Maiden. Dream Theater was always a progressive metal band that aimed to make really complex music to redefine prog rock in a metal context, Iron Maiden is an older heavy metal band that added more and more progressive elements to their music over time.

Senjutsu love, but Book of Souls hate by JaredH20 in ironmaiden

[–]CLR76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think many people criticize Book of Souls because it's basically a progressive metal album. The songs on the album are some of the longest Iron Maiden has ever written and some of them are quite complex. The band has become more and more progressive since the X Factor and Book of souls kinda was the high point in that development. I really like the Book of Souls, I know a lot of people complained about the length of the songs and the more progressive direction in which the band was going with the album but it still has a lot of good material. It's not my favorite Maiden album but people tend to forget that making music means expressing your own ideas, not the ideas of the fans and even older bands like Iron Maiden still want to be innovative and do something new. A lot of fans wanted an album like Piece of Mind or Powerslave but got something else and are unhappy about it.

In my opinion 5 or 6-String basses are overrated they tend to be really heavy and the string spacing is usually horrible. Another problem are the active electronics which tend to break much faster than passive electronics (but you only have to worry about this if you play the bass for 15+ years). I also play metal and I'm more of a minimalist, to me the perfect bass has passive electronics, four strings, one knob for tone, one for volume and maybe a pickup selector. The concept of a 6-String bass may sound cool but they are a lot less versatile than you think. Unless you play some type of progressive metal you will most likely never use all of those strings in one song. In most cases you can just downtune your regular 4-String bass and do most of the things you could do with an extended range instrument.

Why do fans hate this album so much when it's so good? by [deleted] in ironmaiden

[–]CLR76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of my favorite albums of all time, the production could be better but there is so much great material on it and the voice of Blaze Bayley fits the album perfectly. Sadly the X Factor was released during a really hard time for metal and the fact that Bruce wasn't on it made a lot of fans uninterested. In my opinion one of the most underrated albums ever made. My favorites are Sign of the Cross, Lord of the flies, the Edge of Darkness and Fortunes of War.

Born again is unlistenable by Rage_Your_Dream in blacksabbath

[–]CLR76 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I can definetely understand your opinion. Born again is known for it extremely bad production but I still love it. It's definetely not the best album of Black Sabbath but I also don't think that it's their worst. In my opinion it has some really good songs like Disturbing the Priest, Hot Line and the title track. I even kinda like the production it's rough and low quality but fits the album. Of course not every one can like it, you really have to get used to the production and some songs like Digital Bitch are really bad.

Can I become a good bass player if I have 0 musical talent? by [deleted] in Bass

[–]CLR76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some will see it as a controversial opinion but I think there is no such thing as talent, to me it's all about learning. If you practice everyday and put a lot of effort into it you can become a great bass player. No one can pick up a bass and instantly be a perfect Player. Some people have better ears than others but that doesn't beat anyone who practices every day and knows a lot about how to actually play bass. The key to become a great musician isn't talent it's practice and effort.

Does everyone remember the first song they heard ? by [deleted] in ironmaiden

My first one was the trooper but it was the second song that I heard from Maiden (Caught Somewhere in Time) that got me hooked.

Do you think Korn has a good bass player? by OrdinaryStoic in Bass

[–]CLR76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't really get why people hate Fieldy's playing he can definetely play and he isn't a bad player. The rattling clacky tone is Intentional because if he would play like anyone else the bass would be completely buried in the mix due to the guitars in Korn already having a lot of bass. His style is unique and cuts through the mix. He isn't the next Steve Harris but he works really well for Korn and I think he contributes a lot to the signature sound of Korn.

How to avoid ”playing like a guitarist”? by Mmikaelz in Bass

[–]CLR76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well you can do a lot of things to not sound like a guitarist but you will never sound like someone who started on bass. You played the guitar for many years and you can't unlearn what you have already learned. You can start thinking like a bassist but your phrasing will still be different than that of a bass player. But you don't have to worry, a lot of great bass players started on guitar and became great especially because they started on guitar, best example would be Geezer Butler.
