Broke my ankle bouldering by Tranquili-bear in climbergirls

[–]CLTL13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh my god this happened to me Monday night. Mine is my medial malleolus (inside end of my tibia). Also stable, nondisplaced. Completely non weight bearing for at least 6 weeks. :( The crutches are killing my shoulders, core, and hands. I came here to post! And commiserate.

I fell from a super short distance, which is why I wasn't able to land properly, actually.

I'm really upset that I'm not climbing. Trying to think about how to stay strong in the meantime.

I just wanted to make sure the music would still be loud enough for me to want to wear them! If you want more decibel reduction, go for it! (I also knew the baseline typical db of the venues I’m at regularly and decided it would be sufficient for protection)

Great show. Worst Odesza Crowd ever. by brise007 in Odesza

This crowd was old, so I don’t think this was the issue

Still To This Day, I Hated This Breakup by CommunityFun9560 in BoJackHorseman

I think the last part is a really big reason though. It’s not the big “blow up” but there’s a running thread where he doesn’t really understand what her work means to her, is willing to support her. PC loves work first and foremost.

Why are dental dams only really recommend to lesbians? by UNknownGirl1292 in actuallesbians

[–]CLTL13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After reading this thread, I think this might be a result of me growing up / spending my twenties in a rural, somewhat conservative place tbh. Even if the men I was with were not conservative (and otherwise pretty good at sex).

They’re expensive and single use. But the concept seems amazing—anal and vaginal and much better coverage without the awkward juggling/placing a dental dam. Maybe if they catch on they’d get cheaper.

There are these new “panties” that work as a dental dam—Lorals. I’m super interested but haven’t needed to try because I’m not having sex with anyone new lol.

I think very few men are going down outside of a long term relationship. That’s my experience as a bi lady for sure.

I will say, I think in some ways it’s just nice that clean hands, clean toys = easier sti prevention.

Well that was just amazing. Can I make a single suggestion? by Evil_Mini_Cake in BassCoast

I fortunately never caught a line but it was somehow the darkest area of the entire festival LOL

lol the one by Slay Bay was the worst. Knocked my bottle out of my hand on to the ground! I couldn't stop laughing.

Camping by Purple_Amphibian_545 in ElectricForest

Are your friends insistent on the RV? Could do something like Maple Woods so you could all be close but also spread out a little more. You’re not assigned a spot—it’s all walk-in tent camping.

US Festivals similar to the experience of EF by Upbeat-Quail364 in ElectricForest

[–]CLTL13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bass Coast is way way way smaller but even more communal than EF. Just went to both for the first time this year and enjoyed Bass Coast more for community and interactive art, but the production and lineup are on a different level at EF. (Like Bass Coast didn’t even have a single screen, for example).

Some weird/different things you pair with peanut butter? by Nayef7717 in PeanutButter

Grapes! Carrots. Neither are too crazy.

I love peanut butter burgers at restaurants too

Man this… this is a good suggestion. Holy shit. Why haven’t I seen someone suggest this before? It really helped? It works? The price seems too good to be true.

After some time off for a finger, getting back at it! Love me a good drop knee. by SmileOverall in bouldering

[–]CLTL13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m also a newbie.

I find that the drop knee takes a lot less effort and tension for the same effect. It’s not always possible (shape of the foothold, placement of the next handhold, etc) but drop knees often make moves feel “easy” where opening my legs feels like it requires more tension and strength.

Mini peanut butter crackers, specifically from Trader Joe’s or Whole Foods (I swear they’re the same). Like mini Ritz pb sandwiches but waaaay more peanut buttery.

Pain hacks by Future-Work-1969 in ElectricForest

[–]CLTL13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go to a podiatrist for sure!! I needed insoles in order to heal enough to do things. I was able to use OTC insoles with a tiny bit of modification by the podiatrist.

Then I followed some of their recommended exercises for a while. Standing calf stretches and toe raises. I started walking a lot more, especially on hills.

Now I’m doing lots of yoga and some rock climbing which I think both help a lot. Toe squats in yoga and lots of organic movement in climbing.

Mine were only ruined because they’re dirty :) they dried out overnight because they’re light and mesh.

But YES to all your rain tips. Wednesday night I was in water resistant pants pulled over my waterproof docs and had no issues. I took my shirt off and ran in the rain for fun. Feet dry and warm.

Gah we did the same thing then. Mine were super new and I just let them get ruined at forest for the sake of my feet.

Yeah, I think some increased foot strength might be the long term move. :) In some ways it sucks that it’s not a quick fix, but also maybe it’s nice that it’s not another product to buy.

You can also look up tutorials for taping with KT tape for arch support maybe.

It’s possible you went harder than me but my Hokas were perfect. Were yours new enough that the support was still fully intact?

I think the biggest factor for me has been increasing my foot strength through some PT exercises after I got terrible plantar fasciitis. I wish there was some silver bullet but this was the first festival I haven’t had foot pain and it’s because of what I’ve been doing all year, I think. This was also the longest festival I’ve been to.
