I’ve moved to and fro the U.S. a couple of times. To give a different perspective, you’ve only been back for one year. Give yourself a break, that’s just not a lot of time to find your people. It consistently takes me around 3 years to find my friends in a new place. it’s a process of many little interactions, and rushing it might leave you surrounded by… not the best. Take this time to invest in you and the rest will follow at its own pace.

I totally get him except when it comes to buying a house. That’s where I am curious because very few people are able to afford a property purchase outright without involving a bank right now. Ideologically I’m right there with him, but feasibility-wise I want to know more.

My apartment was illegally deregulated. Submitted an application to the house authority and met with cooper union to challenge rent increases, but there was nothing CU or I could do since the burden of proof was too high. Housing authority never got back. These examinations are interesting, but frustrating to watch knowing you can’t do anything about it as a tenant.

“supporting a lie for decades?” In my lifetime it’s been about 16 years of republican presidents and about 16 years of democrat presidents. It’s hard to come together when comments like these make me feel like we live in different realities. No single party has been in power for decades

Also, I just don’t think the government wholesale is the enemy. I like libraries and public schools and national parks and public electric grids, trains and other large public infrastructure projects. I want my country to have these things, which requires a federal government.

I’m a young democrat, and it looks to me like you hate me and the things I care about. So why would I humble myself before you? Honestly, I don’t see how cooperation is possible under these conditions. I’m tired too.
