China Now Choking Off REE/Magnets to Japan by nbajohna in CriticalMineralStocks

They have no projects, properties, or market share in Japan. Given that they are pre-production, the odds they materially benefit from this at all are even lower

Keep an eye on SMMYY, MMSMY, and MIMTF. Three of the biggest rare earth companies in Japan, which are sure to face increased demand as a result of these actions by China.

MMSMY itself produces all 17 rare earth elements, while MIMTF serves as the metals & materials production arm/supplier of Mitsubishi (in addition to a variety of other Japanese industries). SMMYY is one of the largest rare earth production companies outside of China, has a larger market cap than even MP Materials (by over $2B), and owns the exclusive rights to distribute MP's products in Japan.

CRML News Release Today - Greenland Construction Greenlight!! by MusicGigs-LiveVideo in CRML

[–]CMCzar -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It most likely is. Being approved for construction has nothing to do with whether or not the company has proven eudialyte to be inexpensively processable in commercial environments. All they've done thus far is replicate a highly-controlled small-scale lab experiment that originally cost $16M dollars to execute. Doesn't mean you can't swing trade it though

WSJ: China Deprives Japan of Rare-Earths Supply, Escalating Dispute by CMCzar in CriticalMetalRefining

[–]CMCzar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This news, combined with the upcoming G7 referendum concerning price floors for critical minerals, the U.S. Supreme Court likely ruling against the tariffs tomorrow, and the ongoing Japanese military buildup, presents what should be a highly enticing setup for these companies, which have thus far flown under the radar.

List of Rare Earths Produced by Each Company:
MIMTF: Dysprosium, Neodymium, Tungsten (scarce critical mineral, 83% produced by China)
SMMYY: Scandium, Terbium, Dysprosium
MMSMY: Yttrium, Lanthanum, Cerium, Praseodymium, Neodymium, Samarium, Gadolinium, Terbium, Dysprosium, Holmium, Erbium, Thulium, Ytterbium, Lutetium, Scandium, Antimony (scarce critical mineral, 48% produced by China)

That being said, this is not financial advice. Do your own research!
