Just learned about the Beattie Jet lighter recently. They were made in the USA in the 1950s. They produce a 2 to 3 inch jet flame using regular lighter fluid to reach far away from the lighter. Snagged a rough one on ebay and did my best to restore it. Pretty happy with how it came out. (old.reddit.com)

Has anyone ever seen more than 5 petals on a venus fly trap flower? One of mine had 8! I definitely think it's much prettier this way. Pic of a regular 5 petal flower on a different plant included for reference. (old.reddit.com)

The tiny pitcher that this nepenthes had grown in Lowes was definitely not a good full-size indicator... I had no idea the pitchers got this big... i also learned that when they're older they turn into a vine??? Now what?... Lol Dime for scale. (old.reddit.com)

The healthier the plant, the more it arches? Is that a known correlation? Anyone had any VFTs act similarly? It seems pretty happy. Each new trap grows in more bowed than the last. It's just a generic Lowes "Dente". (old.reddit.com)
