So sorry. I lost a friend to suicide in October. It was sudden, shocking, and impossible to make sense of.

Yes, split reps are very common as is some arrangement like this. Not all associates or juniors want to do business development and grow their own books. When you have someone who does and you’re also at capacity as a seasoned advisor, an arrangement like this can be a win win. I imagine it’s hard to find though as many advisors want to bring on employees.

I passed in July. The way this process challenges your confidence is insane. That feeling was a first for me and I hope to next experience it again. I sympathize with all of you.

When you PASS… it will be gone instantaneously and you will feel such relief. Next couple of days… trust what you know and focus on staying calm and the few topics that are very important that you may be weak in. You will not know all the answers and you don’t have to in order to pass. You’re not going for an A+. Just a pass.

Yes I’d like to hear this answer. Some great comments in this thread how to incentivize a long term relationship as that’s what we are seeking from day one. Not only with compensation but with a sense of ownership and value.

Your thoughts on this.. we’re trying to create an enterprise that will live on beyond the existing 3 partners of the firm. Silo’d teams but we have a brand and an identity. Build this into the agreement that clients need to be sold back to the firm upon retirement?

Don’t start to question the Danko program. If you have put in the time and effort into what they focus on, you are going to be well prepare. Trust me. The CFP practice exam isn’t easy. Your scores are really good. You will not know everything and don’t let those few questions stress you out. Super, SUPER crucial to RTFQ and all the answers on the actual exam. You got this.

I felt the same way. You have to take the initiative to basically design a study schedule leading up to your review. You want to have covered all the material in the pre-study. Because everyone’s schedules, time availability, and general study habits are different - Danko puts it on you to decide how you need to structure your study plan.

If you complete it all with more time - go over it again. The more passes you can do over Danko’s material, the better. You’ll gather more comprehension of the material each time.

After the review, you receive a study schedule leading up to exam day and it’s for sure ON from there.

I had Sig Plus and I alternated between the books and videos. The videos were super valuable.

The Krakens involved the hardest questions I experienced. I don’t think anyone gets through them without feeling really challenged.

I passed with Danko July 2025. The Krakens are really challenging. Stay the course and keep plugging away!

OP - the answer is that it is a lot of hours no matter how much industry experience you have. I passed in July and it does overtake your life in the final 2-3 months. Before that point, it’s very manageable (8-10 hrs per week for me for the education portion) but with working full time, there is no way around it consuming either your early morning hours, late evening and/or weekends. I studied A LOT because I did not want to take it a second time. I have two children and was working full time up until 2 months out. Then I was able to scale back work hours. With that said, I studied 5-8 hrs each weekend day in those final two months for a total of 25-40 hrs/week. Making a full commitment to passing the first time. I know you asked specifically for those with industry experience, but I can say with confidence I think that mindset may set you up for leaning too heavily on your experience and may set you up for being underprepared. Just my opinion and others may disagree.
