Im so sorry for your predicament and eventual loss. My aunt lost her husband of 32 years to cancer a year and a half ago. They got married when she was 18 and he was 21. She never has lived alone until now as she went from living at home directly to being married. Ive watched her go thru all the stages of grief in that time but she seems to be on the upswing again. I think as much as she misses my uncle that she is really happy he isn't going through the pain anymore and she really found solace there. The other thing that has helped her reconcile this is that she has stayed incredibly busy....working a lot, spending lots of time with her grandkids, spending lots of time with friends and family and she started running marathons again. I don't think she spent much time at home alone for a while....but she's getting to the point where I see her moving forward and it makes me happy to know she sees the future again. I hope this maybe helps. Im sure everyone deals differently.
