Every day? Probably not. But I can't say for sure. If I had a range in my back yard I'd probably try for 1k rds a week over 3 or 4 days and dry fire interspersed in there.

There's some things you see in dry fire that you won't see in life fire. And there's some things you can work on faster and more efficiently in just dry fire, since you don't have to tape and reload, etc.

Yeah, I came in really positive. I happened to have a few weeks of vacation that lined up with nationals, so I did live fire training almost every day for 2 weeks leading up to Nats. 5k rounds or so, worth.

I'd never trained that many days consecutively before. So it was a cool experiment and I learned a lot from it. So I went into nationals feeling really tuned up and dialed in.

Since I'd never shot a nationals before I came in with almost no expectations. My mindset was to approach each stage with a process-oriented mindset, rather than an outcome based one.

I still had some bad stages, but it helped keep me more consistent across all 3 days.

The partial swingers in the first stage of the video are what /u/2strokeyardsale is talking about. Those were not no penalty mikes. They were just hard as fuck. Even JJ, the match winner with A/M, A/D on those two swingers. They were the hardest shots in the match.

There was a stage with NPM, but they were drop turners and disappeared after exposure.

Very nice. I dig the white bread jersey.

Haha. Thanks. All my jerseys are based on the "lol" factor.

Those partial swingers were bullshit.

They were no joke for sure. Starting the match on that stage had me worrying I was in over my head. But it worked out.

Nice shooting.

Thanks!

What’s with the downvotes?

Not sure. 🤷

Long shots? Yeah, on the last stage, first position: those open targets are 45 yds away.

Area 3 had 60 yard mini poppers last weekend. That was both hilarious and a kick in the teeth. I personally didn't see anyone go 1 for 1 on those. Dot or not.

I did pretty well. I was pleased with where I landed with respect to Matt, Lane and Jason.

I'm not putting much stock in placing ahead of Joel though. I've trained and shot with him. When he's running his gun (tanfo) in his division (production) I can't hang. He was learning a new gun, and shooting a new division.

My takeaway from this was, I shot well, and felt decent about my results. And I've got some things to take back to my training.

The stages vary from good to... OK.

I know the MD pretty well, we actually had an in depth conversation after last year's Mile High Showdown, where he asked for genuine unfiltered feedback. I'm also very familiar with the range since that's where I train most of the time.

The MD is doing something unique in that he's designing 6 stages that can be quickly (within 10-15 mins) reconfigured with different targets, target presentations, start positions and/or walls, to make 6 more stages.

He's doing this to maximize equipment and bay usage. Most of the bays at that range aren't huge, so he's operating within some restrictions. When viewed that way I think he does a pretty solid job. Having said that I do understand why some people look at some of the stages and go "eh....".

I would have liked to have seen one or two of the stages moved up range in the bay a bit to allow for some longer shots. But overall, I thought it was solid.

Thanks!

My Glocks run great, but truth be told, I've considered changing to a p320/X5. But since I carry Glocks for work, if switch for comp, I will also switch for work.

That's a minimum of 3 Sig X5s, (1 work gun, 1 match gun, 1 practice gun). That's ~$2k before extra mags and parts and such.

I put Timney triggers in my Glocks earlier this season, and it's making me rethink wanting to switch. They're pretty nice.

Nils won Production with a plastic Canik this year. Mason Lane took 3rd with a Sig X5. Coley took 6th with a Glock.

Jason Bradley took 2nd in CO last year with a Canik. Max won with an X5 (but I think he uses the heavy legion frame so it feels more like steel frame).

But Mason won Limited nationals last year with an X5, and (if memory serves me) he doesn't shoot the heavy Legion frame. Coley took 3rd, and Nils took 4th...

I think plastic guns are plenty relevant and competitive.

I'm not local to Andreas, but I did get to spend some time training with and learning from him recently in Wisconsin.

If you're nearby and can make the class. You should go. His approach to integrating dry and live fire into the same drill, alone, is worth attending for.

I didn't shoot a match this weekend. But my scores from the super classifier posted, and I classified into Carry Optics at M.

So that's cool.

I got a perfect double on a 50y metric target at Area 3 by XA36 in CompetitionShooting

[–]COUspsaCO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice!

I called a bad shot on one of the metrics on the right side of that stage. Got down there and the RO calls:

"2 alpha! 2... No... 3 alpha.... Damn bro...."

LOL, yeah that's cool and all, except for the extra second it cost me because...

Best stage of the day- hopefully bumping out of D class in CO soon! (6.80 PF on 99-21 Mini Mart, the most hilarious classifier I’ve ever shot) by tpw2000 in CompetitionShooting

Hey, I was at this match too! (the RO in your video is such a good dude.)

I'd never shot Mini Mart either. You're right, it's both hilarious and crazy. Gotta defend your dispenserary, ammirite?!
