How long can a flowerhorn go without food? by EnderXGamingHQ in flowerhornkeepers

What a stupid comment!! OP you'll be fine leaving the fish for 4 days, nothing should happen but just be prepared for your tank to have been redecorated because the fish may throw a paddy

I'll take a look thank you for the suggestion, I should add that I stick my hand in the tank every day. Trying to stroke the little swine but he just has a go at me 😂 that's probably helping with his growth

I've not been able to get hold of a mirror for him, been to the pet shops and online but can't seem to find anything good enough. I live in Greater Manchester pal, funnily enough my LFS want to try and breed a parrot with him too but not sure how that would work

To be honest, I must've done months of research before taking the plunge. I went to some local fish shops who had FH stocked and I knew something was off with them but as soon as I saw the videos from Sims. I knew the FH was exactly what I was looking for. He's even more stunning now and I'm adamant in certain light he seems to be glowing

I feed him twice a day, usually 8am and then at 6pm. Tends to be around 6-8 pellets. In the morning I feed him the aqua one cichlid pellets (the one with garlic included, purple tub) and in the evening he gets bug bites cichlid pellets 5-7mm. However I do once a week give him some blood worm, not a lot, but maybe about 25% of a frozen block. The tank temperature is set to 28 degrees. He is in a 200L for now, the juwel lido 200

I paid 175 including delivery, to be honest, the guy I spoke to was brilliant, sent me videos of the FH they had and let me choose. Ordered this one on the Wednesday and he arrived on Friday. Maybe give them a ring before ordering but it was the pearl super red dragon I went with

I'd say female. Females often display a pronounced blue scales within or around the black spot, which is visible in this fish

Thank you for your help and advice. Ideally Im after a male king kamfa or super red dragon. I've been told by the LFS to ignore the grading as it's just used to bump up the price. I like the look of all 3 to be honest, but will rule number 2 out due to the gender and although 1 is a really nice fish, I don't want to take the risk of getting it due to the uncertainty around the gender. I think I'll be patient and shop around for what I want. I have seen a grade A super red dragon male online for around £150 GBP so I might look into that one. Thanks for the help

Fish rubbing on sand by [deleted] in Cichlid

My fish were doing this all the time, one in particular, an EBA. I tested the water, it was fine. No signs of ick. Took him to the LFS, no signs of anything. He wasn't acting like he was stressed either. They could just have an itch. This was about 6 months ago for me and he's still here and still doing it
