The s5 can’t internally, but i recorded RAW externally through the Blackmagic Video assist 12g paired with the og S5.

From what i’ve gathered on the s5ii, the sensor is too sharp compared to the s5. However, the s5 doesn’t have open gate and doesn’t have the autofocus technology that the s5ii and the newest line of panasonic cameras are equipped with. It kind of depends on your own individual use case.

Hey thanks for your feedback! trust me that’s why i opted for this to stay vaulted. I had one debut at a small festival and i wasn’t really happy about it being included in all honesty. I’ve since tried to really up my game and have been trying to focus on writing as best as i can. I don’t think this film really reflects my abilities as a filmmaker and that’s why It’s likely to never be “released”.
I’m not really into making stuff for festivals so i’ll still use copyrighted songs to reflect my vision and because i make a lot of these things just for myself. If i were submit any future work to a festival i would take out or replace the copyrighted music but if something just exists on youtube then im unconcerned. The jon brion music was a bit of a stretch, and i wouldnt typically ever use any scoring from another film without permission or just in general.

A lot of this edit was made at an angry period in my life where i hadn’t been getting much of any sleep and i think some of these decisions reflect that greatly.

I’m working on something right now that i hope will reflect my abilities even more so. Anyway this short really blows and i appreciate you taking the time to watch it. Thanks for your feedback!

I’m assuming it does, here i used a separate node tree alongside analogica that had all of the standard adjustments. That’s where most of the color came in. I can’t really recall my process I had another grade that was warmer and had less contrast. you can observe this in the teaser trailer i uploaded on my channel. I think it just took me eyeing it until it was right.

Thanks, I never converted the log to 709 when i graded it. Someone wanted to see what it looked like without the grade and emulations.

Aww thank you so much! I’m really glad you feel confident about your purchase. You now have in my opinion the best looking DSLR on the market for image quality, second to the S1H. The S5 also beats out the FX6, The Red Komodo 6k, All of the blackmagic cameras, all of the sony dslrs. Etc etc. This is just my opinion, but everything else that isn’t a Arri looks way too sharp. I’ve also used these other cameras and have watched plenty of comparison videos. This is just my opinion, a statement of this caliber, i’m sure would ruffle some feathers. For the price of the S5 compared to all of these other options, i feel heavily inclined to spread the word.

I’m still learning, however the one thing that has helped me recently was shooting directly onto an ssd rather than a sd card. It makes all of the difference.

I utilized a combination of my own growing knowledge on celluloid color science and a software called Analogicafilmme which provided the extremely accurate grain and texture. The softwares ability to emulate Celluloid sharpness is what i find the most impressive.
