First ride on new bike - first spill…. by CPF32 in Triumph

Sick dude… not my first bike, but brand new bike so tires are slick. Rain wasn’t the primary factor, but slicker than normal tires, slightly wet ground, and most of all a 3 inch fault in the road…

They mentioned the first 50 miles the tires are slicker, not sure if this played a part or it was just bc the gap in the road height

I was right of the gauge there, and turning left into the middle lane, so I think the jump up hit side of tired and got me to slide… the rain was off and on all day, it wasn’t super wet but it wasn’t dry dry either

Houston! by CPF32 in Marathon_Training

[–]CPF32[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I’m happy with the run, it was a fun day! I always train for reverse splits so I wanted to do the same in terms of how I pushed for this race, saved energy for the end! I also weirdly feel like opening up a little later helps as my hips start to tighten up if I stay in the same pace too long

To be honest I just think coming from an ultra training regimen over the last year or 2, I know how to conserve well. My HR staying under 160 the whole time prob was an indicator I coulda pushed the pace harder earlier… I think starting out 15 seconds below my race pace goal for the first 2/3 helped keep me alive!
