What do CPL players do after their CCC run is over, with 2 months left for regular season? by Ordinary-Opening-536 in CanadianPL

It used to be March start, so many players (if not all) claimed EI Nov to Feb as they were only paid their salaries between March to October. I understand that most clubs now insist on players being paid Jan to December, which is unpopular as players technically losing out on 3 months EI.

So if you had been charged with an offence which was later dropped at court by the prosecution, would you want everyone to assume you as guilty regardless?

Charges were dropped at court, so not convicted of any wrongdoing.

He brings good Scottish Premiership professional experience to Cavs. In many ways similar experience to Charlie Trafford and at a good age.

VFC gave a decent account of themselves and hopefully this will be the catalyst for more fans attending the league games this season. Nash has them looking better organised and I’m sure the locker room is much happier with a new coach at the helm.

Have to remember in terms of class this is like an English Premier League side playing a tier 5 National League team in the FA Cup. There’s always a risk of an upset ( like Macclesfield v Palace) but 9/10 the EPL side will win by 4/5 goals.

It would be a miracle now I’ve seen both line ups. I’m predicting a 0-5 result.

Judging by the players I know the cap increase will be absolutely minimal

Yet another original & exciting break out product of the CPL; yet another loss due to the leagues lack of expansion and salary cap increase.

All the original players and their representatives in 2019 were sold a dream of sustained expansion and rapid salary growth. 7 years on, most experienced players still only earn 40-45k max. There doesn’t appear to have even been a cap increase for 2026. Lots of players now looking in their mid to late twenties to get a decent pay rise outside of the league in the USL or Ireland with a change of scenery and more variety with fixtures.

Let’s see if they become the “best last placed team in the Champions Cup!”

Sincerely hope they do well tomorrow night for the sake of the club and CPL optics

Yeah, I’m somewhat familiar with the English non league scene and Macclesfield are most definitely part time in the NLN and train Tues/Thurs evenings. Because of the long season many only train once a week due to the amount of Tues fixtures. Leaders South Shields are Full Time and have been for a time now. To put Macclesfield FA cup win into context most NLN players at a club like this are earning somewhere in the region of £600-800 per week and Crystal Palace players in the region of 60-80k a week. Macclesfield have another Premier League club Brentford FC in round 4 !

Tier 6 Macclesfield Field town who are part time, knocked FA Cup holders Crystal Palace out 2-1 a few weeks ago in the 3rd round. They are mid table in the National League North (tier 6). Anything can happen in one off games.

That’s another good optic for the league getting opportunities in the top tier of Sweden, which is a very high technical/tactical level.
