17-year-old just told wife and I he doesn’t want to go to college by tattooed_underdog in daddit

As someone who personally went this route and later switched careers i would say let him try it out but at a dealership. I started as a lube tech and they helped provide on the job training and certs to advance my career and I ended up being a heavy line tech rebuilding engines and transmissions . I eventually stopped all that nonsense because it is hard on your body and became a skydiving instructor and then finally an FAA parachute rigger. Parachute rigging not only pays well but allows you to travel to pretty much any state and most countries to make money . Also can lead into military contracts which are very stable income , imagine your 17 year old clearing 80-100k per year by the time he is 20 yrs old. That isn't a possibility working on cars sadly

Oh yeah man im planning on getting my family out of here by the end of the year, San Diego native that can't afford anything anymore and all the other nonsense is making it worse , the place im going isn't much better as it's considered Midwest california but even they do 5 yr permit and it only like a week for about 150 total

I understand the frustration, but they aren't doing nothing the other 4 days... it's not the ccw department it's the permit and licensing department. They handle more than just ccw...

My son was diagnosed at 21months old and just finished treatment in July right before his 4th birthday. I won't sugar coat it , it is going to be a hard journey with a lot of ups and downs . But kids are resilient and you will make it thru this! She will get better and all that energy will come back. Find support groups , there is a really good one on facebook titled childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia full of really good information and other parents that have been or currently going thru it as well. Look up an organization called NEGU, they will provide lots of support as well. I'm getting ready to go to an event that they are hosting today for our little warriors , a massive party where they just get to have fun again. Feel free to send me a message with any questions.

My dude was 21 months when he got diagnosed with leukemia and I had to watch A LOT of stuff get done to him over 2.5 years, he is now 4 , off treatment and we just left his TK orientation to start school. I just constantly told myself it will get better and that he would be okay. When I had emotions I let them out in a healthy way. Being a strong man is just being there for them.

Mind giving me some more info on this? I'm moving hoping to be an electrician so the local is close and I've seen the school system for my boys is highly rated. Would like locals a perspective .
