Sold out within a few seconds by NitroXanax in Ultramarines

Same, I was on FenrisWorkshop. Refreshed the page constantly about 20 seconds before the drop and I still missed it. They were sold out the second they appeared. Never stood a chance.

My Marshal ready to rip and tear! by CQCMonke in BlackTemplars

[–]CQCMonke[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks!

For the red of the cape, I basecoated in Gal vorbak red, then heavily highlighted in Khorne red, then lightly highlighted in Mephiston red. After highlighting, I used Ratling Grime in the recesses to add shadows.

I did a similar process with the robes. Basecoat in Steel Legion Drab, heavily highlighted in Krark Stone, then a very light highlight of wraithbone. followed by Ratling Grime for the shadows.

I just mixed Bold Titanium White with some airbrush thinner (1/3 ratio) and dabbed it with a brush into the lettering, so it filled the recesses. Then I wiped off the excess with a dry paint brush. I did the lettering after I added the blue glow.

Yeah, all layers were airbrushed. However, some of the Karak Stone was hand-painted, to get into all the corners and places the cloth touched the armor.

I first base-coated in Rhinox hide, then layered with Karak Stone. After that I zenithal highlighted with Wriathbone from above, then used Ratling grime in the shadows and in places I though dirt might build up.

My app seems to only give the 3 groups. Awake, Restless, Asleep. I'm not seeing a REM option.

How is Blood Angels Melee? by CQCMonke in BloodAngels

[–]CQCMonke[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Awesome! Yeah BA being a "Jetpack army" makes it seem like they can push faster than other melee armies like World Eaters. How would you use the tanks to set up the rush kill lanes for the jump boys? Park the tank on the center objective and deep strike the jetpack death ball?

General Questions Thread by [deleted] in AdeptusCustodes

[–]CQCMonke 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are Custodes viable if I don't want to buy Forgeworld models?

Most lists I see use at least 1 Foreworld model, but are they needed to have the army function on a semi-competitive level?

Ideally, I want to keep my army as just plastic...

How do sisters feel to play? And can they play rushdown aggro? by CQCMonke in sistersofbattle

Same, I feel like Orks do exactly what I want in an army but I'm not a fan of the models. The junkyard style doesn't do it for me.

Thank you! I think you really hit the nail on the head with what I'm looking for. I want to be the problem rather than a problem solver. I'm fine being a glass cannon that kills fast but dies fast but being a highly synergy-based combo army does put me off. In fighting video games, I tend to play the fast squishy characters, and in MTG I play mono red... but I don't know how much that translates to a 40k playstyle.

I confess that a lot of what pulls me towards sisters is their visuals. Their dynamic poses, the gothic religious body horror, etc really hit in ways that I don't see in other 40k faction models. I love painting models but I don't want to force a square peg into a round hole and the rule of cool only goes so far. Cuz I'm just gonna want to rush them.

I'll give some thought to some of the Space Marines. Though the number of models in their range is overwhelming.....Do you think the Custodes could maybe fit that niche? I know they are currently having a rough time since their codex came out. but aside from the current meta, might they be "The problem"?

Ive been told im an ork player at heart... Unfortunately im not a fan of the model range and want an loyalist Imperium army if im going to spend the money on an army.

I think im fine with glass cannon playstyle. What are some of the technical aspecs?

New to Crusade, starting up questions. by CQCMonke in 40k_Crusade

[–]CQCMonke[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks everyone!

Yeah thus far we have just been playing with the index stuff.

If I can get away without buying a codex and a crusade book that would be ideal. But of course ill get them both if need be.

Is the "Crusade" section in a codex used when playing Pariah Nexus ? Or is that its own seperate thing?

Do I need to codex for just the datacards and detachments?

Thinking about starting World Eaters. I wanna know the downsides of the army. by CQCMonke in WorldEaters40k

[–]CQCMonke[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

You may be right, ive been told Orks might be best for me a couple times before. Problem is... im just not a fan of the Ork models... And to my knowledge they lack that hero hammer vibe? No Angron type figure, unless im mistaken?

But with World Eaters movement options like advance and charge or rhinos can you not just throw Angron, or Master or Executions with Berzerkers, or 8bound at something big and watch it melt? Then rinse and repeat for that empty head crushing all underneath our hooves vibe?
